Kimberly's POV-

"Kim...why can't Jack just stop being such an idiot?" Ellie complains as she crashes onto my couch in the living room.

I walk over towards her with a glass of water and sit down in the recliner chair right next to her and put the glass of water down onto the table in between the two pieces of furniture. Ellie came rushing into my house roughly an hour ago complaining about something dumb Jack did. Apparently he's been doing all sorts of dumb things for the past couple of weeks.

"Remind me again what he's been doing?" I ask her. She suddenly sits up and sends me a quick little glare.

"He's cheating on me!" she shouts.

I flinch at the tone in her voice. Ellie and Jack have been together since Ellie first moved to Michigan. They've been living together for the past five years and I thought everything was going by well with them. They couldn't be more obnoxious with how affectionate they can be in public. Honestly.

"But you really don't know if that's true. He really could be working later hours like he says he's been doing." I try telling her as I try to hand her the glass of water. She shakes her head and I put it back down onto the table.

"No Kim. He's been doing this for two weeks straight and he always comes home late at night. He doesn't have time for me anymore and I literally walked in on him having some sort of phone call yesterday and when I asked him about it, he just pushed it aside and told me that it wasn't anything worth mentioning!" she continues to complain.

Obviously she's been drinking a lot. I guess that would make sense of the practically almost empty bottle of alcohol she was holding onto when she showed up at my door. I haven't seen her this wasted in a while.

"Maybe it really wasn't worth mentioning. Come on Ellie...don't you trust Jack?" I ask her as I try to give her the glass of water again. She shakes her head again and points towards the table. I follow her instructions and put the glass back onto the table.

"I've always trusted Jack. But lately, I don't know what to think about it." she tells me as she falls back down onto the couch. I sigh and run my hands down my face.

"Well, has he said anything about tonight?" I ask her. She shrugs her shoulders.

"He said that he wanted to take me out tomorrow night to makeup for the past couple of weeks. But-"

"That's good isn't it? That means he's trying to make an effort with you. So he must still care." I tell her. She groans in frustration.

"You're not listening to me. I don't see why I should agree to go with him because of his behavior lately." she says very stubbornly.

"Ellie. Have you even spoken to him about this? About how you're feeling lately?" I ask her. She pouts and hesitates to answer.

I honestly don't think there's anything she should be worrying about. The look in Jack's eyes every time he looks at her, well that's just it. Anyone can see that. He loves her. I doubt he'd do anything to hurt her, purposely that is.

"...no...but I still don't see why I should let him take me out tomorrow night." she says as she crosses her arms. I sigh and pull out my phone to check the time.

"Listen Ellie. It's almost 10 right now. You should really head home and get some sleep. If you're so worked up about it, then talk to him about it. Otherwise, just let him take you out tomorrow night and hopefully things will work out." I try to convince her. She mumbles something under breath as she sits up and gets off of the couch.
