"Miss Cara, this is our priority client, Sir Aeson Nathaniel Vergara." My mind went blank for a few seconds but I snapped myself in reality. Priority, I see. Binalingan ko ang natapos na tawag bago humarap sa kanila.
"Oh, yes. My apologies, nice to meet you Mr. Vergara." I offered my hand for a handshake but he still stood and stared at it. Ibinaba ko na ang kamay ko dahil wala naman at siyang balak tanggapin iyon.
"Uhm, excuse me. I should leave the both of you—"
Binalingan ko si Dana, Harper's assistant that's also known to be one of her flings. You heard me right, Harper's bisexual.
"Stay here, Dana. Keep updated, incase if I missed out something, you'll be the one to relay it to Miss Williams." Lumapit nang bahagya sa akin si Dana at bumulong.
"I'll be making coffee, Esquivel. Ang agang dumating ng kliyente natin." mariin niyang sabi. I almost rolled my eyes at her, tinanguan ko na lamang siya at nagpaalam sa lalaking kaharap ko ngayon.
Dead silence filled the room as Dana went outside the office. Tinapik tapik ko ang desk at tiningnan ulit ang phone ko. Fuck , this is too awkward.
"If you mind, I'll excuse myself for a moment." He licked his lower lip then slowly nodded. Hindi na ako nagaksaya ng panahon at pumunta muna sa may terrace ng office at sinarado ang glass door na namamagitan rito. I dialed Harper's number and I was thankful that she answered it immediately.
"Why didn't you tell me?!" I shrieked.
"Hindi ko rin alam! Goodness, the only thing I knew was the last name. Malay ko bang siya iyon, marami namang may Vergara ang huling pangalan no!" she ranted.
"So, this is the client that I have to deal with for the rest of my stay?" I asked as I bit my lower lip. I suddenly shudder at my choice of words. This scenario was very familiar.
"Eventually, yes. Nandyan na ba siya? " she replied.
"Yes, he's here." Bumaling ako sa loob at nahuling nakatingin ito sa akin. Nilabanan ko ang tingin nito at siya na ang kusang lumingon sa ibang direksyon. Kala mo dyan.
"Okay, just explain our proposal first. Kung ano man ang mangyari sa paguusap niyo mamaya, tell me anything. Understood?" she told me as a hint of smile escaped my lips.
"Yep, call you later." I ended the call and went back inside. Sakto namang pagpasok ko ay pagdating rin ni Dana na may dalang tray na may dalawang coffee.
"Thank you." he said directly to Dana. She handed some coffee to me and the navy blue folder. I tucked my hair behind my ear before sitting on the swivel chair and started speaking.
"Again, sorry for the slight inconvenience. What we have here is--"
"Won't you try to introduce yourself first?" I glanced at him as I nodded.
"Oh, I thought you caught that up. Cara Esquivel, at your service." I playfully winked at him as I saw his jaw clenched. Hindi na niya tinugon ito kaya nagsalita na ako muli.
"As I was saying, what we have here is--"
"Miss Dana, could you leave for us a moment?" I let out a frown at his question.
"Uhm, pardon?" I asked him. Binalingan niya ako ng tingin.
"I said, can your assistant could leave us for a moment."
"Not to be rude, but as I said earlier, she needs to be here to take notes of this meeting so she could relay it to Harper Williams." mariin kong sabi.
"I think we could have a business talk without your assistant. If I'm not mistaken, you're one of the leading employees in States, and by that, I think you can handle a client well... just by yourself." Natigilan ako sa sinabi niya at lumingon kay Dana. Pinandilatan niya ako ng mata at wala na akong ibang naggawa kundi tumango. She smiled politely and exited the office.
