Chapter 13

Harry's POV:

"Woah!" Y/n says as we enter the next room

I look around but I can't see anything. Just darkness and some shadowy shapes that I can't make out.

"I don't like this" Hermione says grabbing onto Y/n's hand "I don't like this at all"

"Where are we?" I ask

"A graveyard?" Y/n Asks

"This is not a graveyard" Ron says , he sighs and walks up to the shadows. "It's a chessboard"

Immediately after he says this the lights turn on and I notice he's right. It's a giant chessboard. Just like the one Ron and I were playing during Christmas break but a lot lot bigger. I walk up to it and admire the queens , pawns,bishops,knights etc. They're pretty huge. Taller than me.

Hermione, Y/n and I walk onto the chessboard and stand beside Ron.

"There's the door!" I exclaim

We all begin running over to the door but when we reach the other side of the chessboard the pawns at the side pull out their swords stopping us . We jump back and they put their swords away.

"Now what do we do?" Hermione Asks us , still holding onto Y/n's hand

"It's obvious isn't it we play our way across the board?" Ron says "Alright Harry you take the empty bishops square , Hermione you'll be queens side castle , Y/n you'll play as the rook. As for me , I'll be the knight"

We all take our places that Ron told us to go to.

"What happens now?" Hermione Asks

"Well white moves first and then... we play" Ron answers

We all look at the other side of the chessboard. A white pawn moves forward 2 squares. Ron looks around the board I'm complete concentration.

"Ron , you don't suppose this is going to be like real wizards chest do you?" Hermione Asks worriedly

Ron doesn't answer and turns back to the board and shouts "you there D5"

One of our sides' pawns moves 2 squares and when it stops on a square the white pawn pulls out its sword and slices our pawn violently causing it to crumble to the ground.

The four of us jump back in shock. Right about now we are all probably terrified that we are going to be sliced as well.

Ron gulps and looks over to Hermione "Yes Hermione, I think this is going to be exactly like wizards chess"

Throughout the game more pieces get smashed into bits. Ron continues yelling where the pieces are to go. None of us have been stricken by the whites just yet but all of us have gotten multiple cuts due to the flying pieces.

"In about 2 moves we can win!" Ron shouts excitedly "Y/n D7"

Y/n hops over to D7 and after a minute she gets a look of horror on her face.

"Y/n What's wrong?" Hermione Asks her

Y/n just stutters something and I look at Ron in confusion. He has the same look. I look at the chessboard and that's when I see it. He put her directly diagonal to the king, if they notice she's out of here. I turn to Ron and look at him with anger , i want to yell but I can't. I have to stay quite and hope they don't realise where Ron has moved Y/n to. The king begins to move over to her and she begins to cry.

"Y/!" Hermione screams

"I'm sorry , I'm sorry , I'm sorry" Ron keeps repeating

I want to do something but I can't , I just have to watch. I watch as the king raises his sword in the air.
