Harry's POV:
Y/n and Ron walk into the greenhouse. Ron stands beside me , smiles and looks to the front. I look up and see out the corner of my eye Malfoy looking at Ron and Y/n pretending to snog the back of his hand.

What the hell happened out there?  I knew it, she probably likes Ron, not me.

Professor Sprout walks into the room.

"Morning Everyone!" She exclaims cheerfully.
Most people ignore her and continue their conversations. She frowns and hits a shovel on one of the flower pots before smiling again once she has everyone's attention. "Good morning everyone!"

"Good Morning Professor Sprout" we recite

"Welcome to Greenhouse Tree second years. Now gather round everyone. Today we are going to re-pot mandrakes. Who here can tell me the properties of the Mandrake root?" She Asks as she carries a pot with a green plant in it, identical to the ones on the table in front of each of us.

Hermione and Y/n both put their hands up, Professor Sprout looks at both of them , then her eyes stop on Y/n.

"Yes Miss L/n?" Professor Sprout Asks

"Mandrake or Mandragora is used to return those who have been petrified to their original state. It's also quite dangerous. The Mandrake's cry is fatal to anyone who hears it" she says

Professor Sprout smiles. "Excellent, ten points to Gryffindor."

The Gryffindor students smile at each other and at Y/n. To be honest I'm kind of shocked that she knew that, even Hermione looks a little surprised.

Professor Sprout clears her throat and we all turn our attention back to her. "Now, as our Mandrakes's are still only seedlings, their cries wont kill you yet, but they could knock you out for several hours, which is why I've given each of you a pair of earmuffs for auditory protection. So could you please put them on right away...quickly!"

We each grab a pair of brown earmuffs in front of us and put them on. Draco looks at them first before putting them on.

"Make sure the flaps are tight down! And watch me closely. You grasp your mandrake firmly...you pull it sharply out of the pot..."

A terrible piercing high pitched scream fills the room and I throw my hands over my earmuffs to block out the horrific sound.

"Got it? And...now you dunk it down into the other pot and pour a little sprinkling of soil to keep him warm"
From behind me Neville Longbottom starts stumbling around and falls onto the ground, Professor Sprout sighs. "Longbottom's been neglecting his earmuffs"

"No ma'am, he's just fainted" says Seamus Finnegan.

"Yes well, just leave him there" she says to a puzzled Seamus. "Right, carrying on. Plenty of pots to go around. Grasp your mandrake and pull it out!"

I grab hold of the plant and rip it up out of it's pot. I wince as several others pull their's out making the room full of loud, awful shrieks. I glance up and look around the room. Mostly to look at what Hermione and Y/n are doing because I kinda blanked out during the demonstration. I see Draco rubbing his finger in the Mandrake's face. He pokes its mouth which suddenly closes and Draco jumps and tries to pull his finger out. Y/n and Hermione both Plant their mandrakes first. Ron and I plant our's ok and after Professor Sprout checks them all and dismisses us I walk out with my friends to the rest of our morning classes.

"Ugh! I can't bear potions" I groan as I sit down at our table.

The first morning of classes has been long. We've had Herbology, Transfiguration and Potions. Potions was of course my least favourite. We've got lunch break now and Hermione's studying-what could she possibly be studying on the first day of school is beyond me- Ron's trying to fix his wand with scotch tape and Y/n is trying to help him. I swear I'm the only normal one.

"There isn't a Gryffindor who doesn't Hate potions." Y/n reply's as she continues to try and fix's Ron's wand.

"So, Harry are you excited for Quidditch?" Hermione Asks me as she places her book on the table.

"So excited. It's been way to long since I've went flying. The bloody Dursley's wouldn't even let me look at my broom." I complain

She laughs a little. "Well I wish you the best of luck"

"Thanks Hermione" I reply as she smiles and continues reading whatever she's reading.

I look back over at Y/n and Ron who are trying to Fix his wand but not doing a brilliant job. Of course she likes Ron, why wouldn't she, he has a good family, he's funny, he's kind and I'm just...the boy who lived. I sigh and look around the room.
