Chapter 8

Harry's POV:

It's past nightfall by the time Ron, Y/n and I reach the familiar surroundings of the giant castle in the distance. The castle at night is one of my favourite things to see, what with the misty grounds that give the whole thing a mysterious look, the shining light coming from the windows that illuminated the castle grounds, even the forbidden forest which I despise going through, but looks pretty wicked at night.

Ron and Y/n both sigh as they look among our school. "Welcome Home" Y/n and Ron both say at the same time, which is a little strange to be honest but anyway, I smile in return.

However the blissful moment only lasts for what seems like a millisecond because next thing we know the car gives a sudden jerk and we glide shakily from the sky onto the castle grounds.

"Up, up!" I shout out hoping the car will obey my order and continues flying peacefully.

"It's not working!" Ron shouts back as
Y/n starts frantically pushing buttons and pulling levers.

"UP!" Y/n shouts as the car continues falling.
"Up! Mind that tree!" I shout , the bloody car looks like it's headed straight for a large and rather ugly tree.

The three of us continue panicking even though we know that it's useless.
"Stop, Stop, stop!" Ron yells repeatedly as he whacks his wand violently on the steering wheel.

Y/n and I wince as we hear a snap. I hope for his sake that's it's not his arm or something. I look out the front window and close my eyes as we crash right into the massive tree. We stop for a second while the car tips back and forth before falling backwards and getting destroyed by multiple branches. After falling down the tree about two more times, it finally comes to a stop.

After catching out breaths , Ron speaks up weakly. "My wand. Look at my wand"

"Be thankful it's not your neck" Y/n retorts

A large crash makes the three of us jumps.
"What's happening?" Ron squeaks

"I don't know" I reply looking out the window

Y/n grabs onto my hand and I look down at my hand that she is holding and I look away blushing a little.

A low growling sound makes the knot that's already in my stomach about ten times tighter. We look forward to see a large and unusually shaped tree branch come swinging towards us. We scream as it smashes against the windshield and continue screaming with every hit. Throughout the entire situation I can't help but think to myself am I seriously gonna die from a plant gone wild? A loud crash brings me out of my thoughts and I move out of the way just in time to miss a huge branch break through the back window and nearly behead me and Y/n.

After a few more huge hits and panicky moments,one huge branch eventually pushes us out of the tree and we crash onto the ground. "C'mon go fast!" Y/n screams at Ron.

He fumbles with a few more buttons and levers then to our relief , the engine starts and we drive away from the damn tree. What the heck did we ever do to nature?

Ron, Y/n and I catch our breaths again but only for a second because the car's doors fly open and we fly out and hit the ground hard. It is just not my day today. The trunk then pops open and out flies our luggage. Knowing that Hedwig is still in the car I jump up, and just in time, out comes her cage and I catch it swiftly and Ron and Y/n do the same with their pets , Willow and Scabbers.

"Scabbers you're ok" Ron says relieved

The car then starts driving off to the direction of the castle and I drop Hedwigs cage and go chase after it with Y/n and Ron close behind. It drives through one of the archways in the castle and out the other side and towards the dark forest.

Ron sighs. "Dads gonna kill me"

After watching the car until it's out of sight we go back to where it left us and grab all of our luggage and stuff and drag it back to the castle. We jog through one of the entrances and Place Hedwig, Scabbers and Willow with the others students' animals.

"See you Hedwig" I call out as Ron, Y/n and I run up the two sets of stairs trying not to be noticed. "So, a house elf shows up in my bedroom, we can't get through the barrier to Platform 9 and 3/4, we almost get killed by a tree...clearly someone doesn't want me here this year" I say shaking my head

Ron and Y/n nod sympathetically then
Y/n stops in her tracks. Ron and I look up confused and I mentally groan as I see who else but Filch, the schools nasty caretaker who coincidentally has it out for Ron, Y/n and I.

"Well take a good look kids. This night may be the last you spend in this castle." Filch says In his surly voice. Nevertheless his threats still scare me and I try to speak up and come up with an excuse but I, much like Ron and Y/n, am speechless. "Oh dear we are in trouble" Filch finishes with a crooked smile.

My thoughts exactly.

Filch drags us along with him through the castle. We pass Dumbledores office and...wait. Why would we pass Dumbledores office? He is the headmaster after all. I look at Filch about to speak up when it hits me. Oh no. Oh no, no , no , no , no. He can't be taking us there! Anywhere but there! My heart rate quickens as we get dragged nearer to the office, the office of Professor Snape.

*time pass*

"You were seen by no less than seven muggles" Snape says angrily in his monotone voice as he holds up a copy of the Daily Prophet, Which has a moving picture of Ron, Y/n and I driving out of King's Cross Station and then disappearing in the sky on the front page.
"Do you have any idea how serious this is? You have risked the exposure of our world. Not to mention the damage you inflicted on the Whomping Willow that's been on these grounds since before you were born"

"Honestly, Professor Snape. I think it did more damage to us" Ron protests

"Silence!" He snaps to which we quickly oblige. "I assure you if you were in Slytherin and your fate rested with me...the both of you would be on the train home...tonight! As it is..."

"As it is , they are not"

I turn my head and immediately feel less panicked. "Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall" I say

"Headmaster these three have flouted the decree for the Restriction of Underage Wizardry. As such..." Snape tattles

"I am well aware of our bylaws Severus, having written a very fair few myself, however as head of Gryffindor house , it is for Professor McGonagall to determine the appropriate action"

Snape scowls and looks at Professor McGonagall intensely. I can tell the chances of us staying are slim. Y/n must notice too because she speaks up and meakly says.
"We'll go get our stuff then"

"What are you talking about Miss L/n?" McGonagall Asks her curiously

"You're going to expel us, aren't you?" She replies painfully

"Not today Miss L/n" McGonagall says. Ron, Y/n and I look at each other in pure disbelief. "But I must impress on the three of you the seriousness on what you have done. I will be writing to your families tonight and you will all receive detention"

We nod our heads upset but understandingly and turn our heads to Snape who is glaring at us like we've just burned down the wizarding world. We wait until Dumbledore says we can go and rush out of the office as quickly as possible.

"I'm so dead. Mum is gonna kill me after she hears I was almost expelled" Ron says nervously as we walk through the corridors to the Gryffindor Common Room.

"Keyword being almost" Y/n says in attempt to make him feel better. I just nod. She looks up and gulps in fear. "And besides, I don't think it's your mum you're gonna have to worry about right now"

Ron and I look up and get the same terrified expression on our faces.

Walking down the hall towards us is a very angry Hermione Granger. Now we're done for.
