Chapter 21

Harry's POV:

The three of us walk back to the castle and towards the hospital wing to see Y/n and Hermione.

We walk into the hospital wing and towards
Y/n and Hermione.

"We wish you were here" I say to them "we need you, now more than ever"

I look over at Draco and see him holding Y/n's hand and I instantly feel a wave of jealousy hit me, but now is not the time to be jealous.

"Guys" I hear Draco say

Ron and I both turn to him, he's holding a crumpled piece of paper in his hand.
He unfolds it.

"This is why Y/n and Hermione were in the library the day they were attacked" He tells us

"Come on!" I say to them

We rush out of the hospital wing and down the corridor.

"Many fearsome beasts that roam this land, none are more deadly then the basilisk , capable of living for hundreds of years, Instant death awaits anyone who meets this giant serpents eye" Draco reads from the paper

I take the paper off him and look.

"Spiders flee before it" I say "Ron, Draco this is it. The monster in the Chamber Of Secrets is a basilisk, that's why I can hear it speak it's a snake"

"But if it kills by looking people in the eye, how come no ones dead?" Ron asks

I think for a moment and then it hits me.

"Because no one did look it in the eye" I say to them "not directly at least"

"Colin saw it through his camera. Justin, Justin saw the basilisk through nearly headless Nick, Nick got the full blast of it but he's a ghost he can't die again and Hermione and Y/n had the mirrors, I bet you anything they were using them to look round corners to see if it came along" I say

"And Mrs Norris" Ron says "I'm pretty sure she didn't have a camera or a mirror Harry"

"There was water on the floor that night" Draco says "she only saw the basilisks reflection"

"But how's it been getting around, a great dirty snake someone's got to have spotted it?" Ron asks

We walk over to a flame to look at the paper more clearly.

"Y/n's answered that too" Draco says as he points at a word that's written at the bottom of the paper.

"Pipes" I say

"You mean it's been using the plumbing" Ron says

"Remember what Aragog said about that girl fifty years ago. She died in a bathroom" Draco says "what if she never left?"

"Moaning Myrtle" I say

Draco just nods.

We hear a voice shout through the halls.

"All students must return to their house common rooms at once, all teachers to the second floor corridor immediately"

It's Professor McGonagall.

The three of us look at each other and of course we make our way to the corridor.

We arrive and see all the teachers gathered found another message.

"As you can see the heir of Slytherin has left another message" McGonagall says "our worst fear has been realised, a student has been taken by the monster into the chamber itself, the students must be sent home, I'm afraid this is the end of Hogwarts"
