Steve's car was silent, Beth staring out of the dark window in boredom. Dustin had already explained everything to Steve twice because he just couldn't grasp it.

"Wait a sec." Steve said, looking at Dustin. "How big?"

Dustin spread his dingers out a few inches to show Steve. "First he was like this." he said, then moving his hands farther outwards to emphasize the amount Dart grew in such a short period of time. "Now he's like this."

"I swear to God, man. It's just some little lizard, okay?" Steve said, highly agitated.

"It's not a lizard." Dustin and Beth snapped at the same time, Steve slightly taken aback at their violent tones.

"How do you know?" Steve inquired.

"How do I know if it's not?" Dustin fired back.

"Yeah! How do you know if it's not just a lizard?"

Beth reached up from the backseat and slapped the back to Steve's head. "Were you not listening? Because his face opened up and he ate my cat!"

Dustin stuck his pointer finger in the air, turning to face Beth. "Our cat."

Beth scoffed, leaning back into the seat.

Steve nodded, finally understanding the concept the Henderson's had been trying to explain to him for the past hour.

"So let me get this straight." Steve said, looking back at Beth. "Right, so, you want me to hunt a giant, cat-eating lizard with this loser?"

Beth squinted, giving Steve the bird. "Yeah, I do."

Steve popped open his trunk, tossing the keys to Dustin while he searched for the bat.

He pulled it and a flashlight out, slamming the trunk shut and walking slowly, and cautiously, to the red cellar doors, the chain and lock keeping them tightly secured.

Steve stood there while Beth and Dustin stood back, shining his flashlight on the doors and leaning his head down slightly. "I don't hear shit."

Beth shook her head, shrugging. "He's in there."

Steve nodded, tapping the bat onto the metal, causing a clang.

When nothing happened, he did it again but harder, a louder bang echoing a bit through the room below.

Suddenly, Steve turned around and put the bright flashlight onto Dustin's face. "All right, kid, I swear if this is some Halloween prank, you're dead."

"It's not." Dustin said, his eyes squinted while he moved his head around, trying to avoid the bright light beam. "It's not a prank. Get it out of my face."
