THE RELIEF
"There you are." Beth smiled as she finished wrapping up her leg, having to poorly stitch her leg back up and re-wrap it with more sterile gauze.Billy's eyes opened, his fingers curling and opening as his senses came back one by one.
"Beth?" he coughed out, briefly looking up from his spot on the couch, his bloody lip now cleaned and cared for.
"Hi, Billy." Beth sighed, sitting in the chair she placed by the couch where Billy still laid, his eyes wider than saucers, wildly going from one direction to another.
No one else was around, and he could barely remember anything from the time he stormed into the Byers house to now.
All he remembered was getting Steve on the ground, repeatedly punching him and then Beth singing to him. Then it all got fuzzy.
"What happened?" he croaked. Beth handed him a glass of water, helping him sit his head up to sip on it. (More like chug it.)
After he was done, she set the cup down and brushed a few stray curls out of his face.
"You tried to kill Lucas and Steve, so I had to sedate you. You beat the life out of Steve, but he's fine. Now, before you get mad, let me explain everything. Including why Max is driving your car right now while Steve is probably unconscious and the kids are navigating." she rushed out. His reaction would be funny to her if the situation wasn't so serious, and possibly deadly, but she remained calm.
"Explain." Billy snapped.

"And that's what has been going on the last few days. You can't tell anyone and you certainly are not allowed to not believe me. What I said could get us killed. What I just told you is very serious and I trust you with my life, so that's why I told you. Billy, I would never lie to you, and I want your full trust. So that's why I told you." Beth sighed, the weight that had been pushing on her conscious now lifted. She felt like she could breathe again.
Billy sighed, leaning his head back on the couch. "Beth." he closed his eyes, sitting up and grabbing her hands in his, pressing his soft lips to them gently.
"Babe, why couldn't you just tell me when it first happened? I can't stand to see you in pain, and I could tell holding that all in was hurting you." he told her, his face contoured in sadness. "Baby, you mean the world to me. Could you not trust me, was that it?"
Beth shook her head. "No, not at all." she told him, looking into his deep ocean eyes.
"The others couldn't trust you. They don't see the Billy that I see. The Billy that I love. They see someone angry, but not someone who's hurt. I've wanted to tell you since I first knew, but I needed time, and that time just kept getting longer and longer. But, I knew I had to tell you when one of the dogs got my leg. I knew I wouldn't be able to lie about a sweet ass scar like this one. Even though it's gross and bloody now, it's gonna be one hell of story when it heals." Beth giggled, pressing her forehead to Billy's.
