Steve carried an unconscious Beth on his back, the end of his bat hanging from his belt loop since he couldn't carry it and Beth.

She was tired and losing blood, but Steve managed to briefly slow it down a bit. The gash was very deep and would need way more medical attention than just some stitches, but they didn't have time to get her home to a hospital, so they went on.

She was sleeping peacefully when suddenly, she woke up to yelling. Loud yelling.

The voices echoed due to the amount of blood loss she's gone through, everything around her making her feel like she was stuck in a daze.

"You broke the rule of law!" someone screamed.

"So did you!"

Tue voices were loud, the echoes causing Beth's ears to ring as the yelling continued. Back and forth, people argued while she rubbed her eyes and groaned in pain.

"Ow," she repeated in small whimpers, trying to rub her eyes to get everything to stop moving around. Eventually, it did. When she realized it was Lucas and Dustin arguing, she slid off of Steve's back who just now noticed that she was awake.

"Woah! Woah!" Steve yelled, catching Max, Lucas and Dustin's attention. He caught Beth as she nearly fell, a yelp escaping from her lips as she put the slightest amount of pressure on her leg, pain shooting through the muscle.

"Help me, Dustin." Steve said, the only thing keeping her up being his hands around her waist. Considering she was still completely out of it, she didn't even notice that she was being pushed back onto Steve's back and basically getting locked there by his toned arms.

Dustin, Lucas and Max continued arguing while Steve tried to get Beth to fall back asleep so she would stop trying to slide off of his back. "Can you like, go to sleep again, Beth? Please?" Steve asked. Beth's only response was a whimper of pain, her eyes squinted.

A loud screech coming from the other side of the train tracks caused Steve to walk into the tree-line. "Hey guys." he called to the fighting children.

"Guys!" he screamed when he didn't get answer, all of them silencing and looking over to where Steve stood.

They all darted off into the woods where the noise erupted from, Beth letting her tears fall freely while pain surged up and down her leg even though Steve was carrying her.

They'd been running for mere seconds when they'd come across a cliff that overlooked the entirety of Hawkins, Indiana. Steve let Beth slide off of his back, hurriedly swinging her arm over his shoulders and giving her support while Max caught up with them. All of them looked out to the woods and the city, the loud growls and calls of the Demogorgons echoing all around them, and yet the couldn't tell where it was coming from.
