"I think we're here." Billy grinned, looking around at the empty beach, the lone house in the corner being the only sign of civilization for miles.

Billy's mom had called him for the last time years ago, telling him vague instructions on how to reach where she lived.

She stayed in California but moved to the one private beach that wasn't on any map to avoid being found.

The beach came with a nice-sized house and there were no ways to find it unless the person living there had given you the intensely specific directions of how to get there.

It was about ten miles off of the main highway that lead somewhere in the middle of the state, and it was so secluded, Billy thought he'd gotten lost about twenty times.

But, they made it.

"Do you want me to go see if she's there?" Beth asked, watching him pick at his nails nervously, contemplation written all over his face.

"We'll go together. I'm done letting you go places alone." Billy sighed, grabbing Beth's hand pressing a gentle kiss to her silky skin.

With hesitation in his movements, Billy finally got out of the car, his leather seat groaning as his weight was lifted off of it.

Billy opened Beth's door for her, helping her get out and walk to the beautiful house that stood graciously on the smooth sand.

The sky above them remained a soft grey color, the only sound coming from the ocean waves lapping against each other and the few seagulls singing their songs above their heads.

The sand curled beneath their toes, a few small grains sticking to their bare feet. "The sand feels nice." Beth beamed, running her toes along the millions of grains as she walked alongside Billy.

Billy had helpfully instructed Beth to take off her shoes because, "If you don't, sand will be stuck in your shoes for years."

Once they reached the house's front door, Billy stopped, his hands beginning to shake while his breathing sped up. "C-can you knock for me, please?"

Beth smiled sympathetically, nodding her head gently. She released Billy's clammy hand to walk up to the door, curling her fingers into a fist and gently knocking her knuckles against the wood.

Billy stood behind Beth, the many possibilities running through his head and crashing into one another chaotically.

What if she didn't live here? What if she moved a long time ago? What if she'd found someone else and left California? What if she didn't want to see Billy? What if she didn't want her son back?

"Oh, hello."

The smooth voice of a beautiful blonde woman interrupted Billy's horrid thoughts, her blue eyes sending Billy into a wave of so many indescribable emotions.

Her hair curled into beachy waves, a beautiful flowy blue dress swirling in the gentle breeze as she stepped out to greet the two people stood on her porch.

"M-mom?" Billy asked, his voice cracking as tears sprung from his bloodshot eyes.

The woman gasped, her heart falling to her stomach as she recognized the baby blue eyes of her son.

"Billy." she breathed, crashing into his arms and sobbing on his shoulder.

Beth watched with teary eyes as the two hugged, one hand resting on her belly as one wiped the tears that fell.

"It's really you!" his mom cried, pulling back with a smile as she squeezed his cheeks. She looked at his long hair and his clothes and every little detail that made him, admiration glued to her smile and teary eyes.

"I missed you so much, mom." Billy sobbed.

"I missed you more, Billy." she sighed, hugging him tightly once more before wiping her tears and turning to Beth.

"Who's this beautiful girl?" she asked with a smile that seemingly lit up the sad, grey colored sky.

"I'm Beth, Billy's girlfriend." Beth beamed, admiring the woman's beauty with a grin.

"I love her very much, Ma. She's helped me through everything and I don't think I would've made it here without her by my side." Billy gushed, a swarm of butterflies pounding into the corners of his belly.

Billy's mom smiled, bringing Beth in for a hug. "Thank you for taking care of my boy. It's so comforting to know that he's had someone to help him."

When Billy's mom pulled away, she saw Beth's bump, her jaw falling to the floor seconds afterwards in realization. "Oh my god!" she screamed.

Billy and Beth began laughing as the woman jumped up and down in pure joy and excitement.

"I'm gonna be a grandmother!" she beamed. "How far along are you?"

"I'm five months." Beth smiled, rubbing her bump while Billy's mother squealed and jumped around for a little longer.

"That is amazing! I'm so glad you're both here." Billy's mom was swimming in ecstasy, feeling her heart finally fall into the happiness she'd longed for since the first day she'd left Billy.

"Do you guys want to stay with me?" Billy's mom asked after a few moments, looking out to where Beth's car was parked.

"We'd love to, mom." Billy smiled, hugging his mother, pulling his girlfriend into the hug as well.
