THE SURPRISE
"Alright." the doctor said as she rubbed a glob of cold gel onto Beth's stomach, preparing her for the first ever ultrasound. Beth was almost as excited as Billy was, but he could barely stop jumping around and dancing when the doctor told him she needed room. He politely apologized and continued dancing in one spot, his smile lighting up the whole room."Ready mom?" the doctor asked, putting the scanner on Beth's stomach and moving it around to find the baby. Once she did, Beth and Billy immediately started tearing up.
"Our bean!" Beth giggled, seeing the tiny baby inside of her body. The emotion was strong, Billy being so shocked he could barely speak. That was his baby. His bean.
"It's about the size of a bean right now. But, with time, it will definitely grow." their doctor, Mrs. Fender, smiled. "How have you been, Beth? If you could estimate, how many times a week do you get sick?"
Beth sighed. "Well, I get sick about twice a day, but if I'm lucky I'll only get sick in the morning. Billy gets me fruit and water or yogurt to eat for breakfast every day so normally after I eat and move around a bit I start to feel a bit better. Though I did want to ask you about feeling like I'm gonna faint or just really drowsy."
Dr. Fender smiled, pulling the device away from Beth's stomach after snapping a picture for them to take home, wiping the gel away. "That's unfortunately normal for pregnant women. Just keep yourself hydrated and make sure you rest. But also, getting a few minutes in the sun is also good for you and your little one."
Beth smiled, nodding and looking up at Billy whole held her hand, staring at the ultrasound picture with the most loving look on his face.

Max, Lucas, Will, Mike, El and Beth sat against the wall as they waited on Dustin to enter the house. He was on his way home from camp, and they sat waiting for him to storm in and get all upset because they weren't answering the radio calls he'd been sending them the past hour.
He sighed once he stormed in, going straight to his room.
El closed her eyes, a trickle pf blood dripping down her nose. Dustin's battery powered toys all began making their way to the living room, Dustin slowly following after them with slow and cautious steps. El's magnetic pull stopped suddenly, her eyes shooting open as Dustin got as far as they needed him to.
"Now." Mike told her, all of them slowly creeping behind Dustin who was slightly scared and tense.
Max counted down from three with her fingers, all of them blowing the paper horns as he turned around in shock. Letting out a scream, Dustin sprayed Farah Fawcett spray into Lucas' eyes, the chemicals making his poor eyes burn. Now, Lucas and Dustin were both screaming.
When Dustin realized it was his friends and his sister, he put the spray down, sighing in relief. He yelled an apology to Lucas as Max ran him to the kitchen sink, Beth having to sit down from how hard she was laughing.
"Beth!" Dustin cheered, hugging her tightly and then quickly pulling back, a worried look on his face. "Shit, did I squeeze too hard? Is the baby okay? I didn't hurt your stomach did I?"
Beth giggled, standing up and puling her brother into a tight hug. "We're perfectly fine. I got my first ultrasound this morning. Pictures and everything." Beth grinned, pulling the pictures out of her back pocket and showing her amazed brother as well and Mike, Will and El who stared at the picture with wide eyes.
El was especially shocked, her eyes going from Beth's stomach to the picture. She gently poked Beth's stomach, her eyebrows furrowed. "So," she started, looking up at the teen. "That's growing inside your stomach?"
Beth nodded, laughing slightly. "Don't worry, Billy is still trying to wrap his head around it, too. Honestly, so am I. It's pretty crazy, huh?"
El now wore a big smile, her face lit up with the thought of a baby running around giggling and getting so much love and attention that he or she would eventually get tired of it. "Awesome."
"Very." Beth giggled, following Dustin as he dragged her and his friends to his room. He was pulling out tools he made at camp, laughing and smiling as he showed them off. Beth thought it was amazing that he never lost his curiosity and he was always trying new things and testing the limits.
Until he dropped to his knees and dramatically unzipped the duffel bag. "Cerebro." he grinned.
Beth smiled, rubbing his head with her hand and letting him be with his friends. As she walked out of the room, she sat down on the couch in the living room, the comforting fabric soothing her. Pulling out the ultrasound picture, she smiled, letting one tear drop from her blue orbs. "Hi, bean." she spoke, softly rubbing her, still rather flat, belly. "That's your uncle and his best friends. You know them, but now you know him, too."
