Now that summer had begun and all of their worries were permanently wiped away, Billy and Beth could focus on their new priorities; the baby, getting their own place and scoring steady and consistent jobs.
Billy was a total different person around everyone now that Beth was pregnant and knowing that he was going to be a father. One thing that warmed Beth's heart, and everyone else's, was when Billy would protect Beth. Even more than usual.
When they went walking to the store or walking into town, Billy would constantly be pushing Beth to the other side of him or resting a hand on the small of her back just in case. It's like he grew a sixth sense that became instinctual to protect Beth and the baby.
Anytime he and Beth went along with Ms. Henderson to the grocery store, Billy always asked what Beth wanted to eat, considering that she was eating for two now, and he would buy it for her immediately, joking that her payment was a kiss. "As long as I get a kiss first." he would smile, flashing those pearly white teeth and his baby blues that Beth fell hard for.
"Fine." she would tell him, rolling her eyes and pressing her lips to his, smiling into their passion. "Now, hand over the chips."

Beth's first doctor visit was on the day that Dustin was coming home from camp, so she decided to schedule the doctor's appointment right before he was supposed to be home so that way she could help surprise him with Mike, El, Max, Lucas and Will. They'd been planning it ever since he left for camp for a month, when Beth first found out she was pregnant, and they were all stoked about their best friend coming back.
But, with Mike and El always running off and Lucas and Max wanting their alone time too, Will always felt sort of left out. So Beth always hung out with him, driving him to the arcade, much to Billy's dismay since he loathed her driving at all, and then she would take him out for ice cream. Billy made sure that Will was also keeping an eye out for her whenever she would go out to do things with him so he wouldn't feel lonely while Billy was at work.
Of course, Will obliged.
It was sweet to Beth that even El and Max were gentle and protective as well around Beth now. The boys especially. Mike Lucas were always walking in front of her while Will and the girls walked beside her, forming a sort of circle that they just got so used to doing that they did every time they walked anywhere. Beth thought it was awfully sweet of them, but they did still treat her normally, only they were slightly more aware and gentle.
One day, Beth decided to go to pool with Billy so that she could get some sun, which she had been told by her mother, that is good for pregnant women. So, she chose to come along.
