"There is definitely going to be a scar and some torn tissue you'll have to take antibiotics for regarding your leg, but everything else is perfectly fine and will heal with time." the doctor informed Beth and Billy who sat in the back of an ambulance.

The flashing red and blue lights illuminated the area as several of the trucks surrounded the mall's parking lot.

"And our baby?" Billy asked carefully, grasping Beth's hand and pressing a gentle and comforting kiss to her forehead.

"As for the baby you've got in there," the doctor began, a grin appearing on the middle-aged woman's face. "It is perfectly okay. No injuries and no visible damage done to the fetus from external extremities. Well done, mama bear!"

Beth sighed, a wave of joyous relief swarming her happy heart. "Thank God!" she beamed, her head still slightly aching from when she hit it after passing out when Billy hit her.

"What medicines will she have to take?" Billy asked, rubbing soft circles with his thumb on Beth's hand.

"She'll have to take some light pain killers for the concussion and some infection preventing pills to speed up the healing process regarding her leg, all of which are totally safe for the baby. And I strongly suggest getting some prenatal vitamins at your next check up. They'll keep the baby nice and healthy and keep you feeling well on your feet, Beth." the doctor smiled, handing Billy the pills and Beth's pill schedule while Beth took her chance to lean into her boyfriend's warm shoulder, letting her eyes close.

The world around her seemed calm again. Happiness was restored finally.

As Beth began to doze off, her body tightly coiled inside the comfortable wool blanket the doctor gave the pair, she heard slapping footsteps against the pavement coming right for her.

Her eyes slowly opened, revealing her out-of-breath little brother, Dustin.

"Beth!" he cried, a breath of relief escaping through his lips.

Beth's arms opened wide, happy tears filling her eyes for the millionth time that night, a smile spreading across her lips. "Hey, Dusty."

"Oh God, you're okay right? The baby's fine?" Dustin asked, worry lacing his voice.

"I'm fine, we're both perfectly fine." Beth smiled, those words still bringing flutters of endless joy to her heart.
