THE BATTLE OF STARCOURT MALL: PART ONE
With the new plan they'd come up with, Dustin, Robin, Steve and Erica were leaving to go to Dustin's Cerebro radio so they could navigate for Murray, Joyce and Hopper who would be going in the Russian underground of Starcourt. That left Nancy, Beth, Jonathan and the kids to go somewhere "safe" and wait this all out.
Before Steve, Dustin and the girls left, Dustin and Steve took a few extra minutes to stay behind and talk to Beth.
"Be safe, please. No unnecessary risks. That means don't push whatever bad ass powers you have. If you have to, use them. If you don't, do not force yourself to. It can't be good for you and it certainly cannot be good for my niece or nephew in there." Dustin grinned, lightly poking Beth's -barely noticeable- baby bump from under her hoodie.
"I love you. Be careful." Dustin hugged his sister one more time before walking off hesitantly.
"I love you too, Dustin." Beth waved as her little brother ran to catch up with Erica and Robin who were making their way to the car.
"Hey, Steve." Beth smiled, waving lightly.
"Hey, Beth." Steve sat beside her, subconsciously picking at his nails with nervousness. "Please be safe." he started, tears welling up in his eyes. "I can't lose you to that thing. If you guys get caught up with it, run away. You gotta run. Don't let it get you."
Steve hugged her and kissed her hair, jogging off to meet with Dustin before she could reply.
Beth just sighed, not knowing if what Robin said about Steve liking her was beginning to seem more and more true.
Before she could think any further, Joyce walked up to her with that warm, motherly smile she wore best.
"Hi, sweetheart. I know you probably want to be alone, I just have to ask before I leave." Joyce patted Beth's knee gently, smiling. "How's the baby? I've been wanting to ask, earlier just didn't seem like a good time." obviously, Joyce was referring to when Beth had to rip a moving creature from her own flesh.
Beth giggled a bit, sitting up and putting a hand on her belly. "The baby is good, I think. I hope so. I've missed a few doctors appointments because of everything going on, but as soon as it's over, I'm going to the doctor. I'm hoping for a boy, but I also want a girl." Beth giggled, the giddiness of having a baby was exciting.
Joyce's smile beamed a ray of happiness into Beth's heart, the sight soothing her. "What is Billy hoping for?"
Beth sighed, the same smile still on her face. "He wants a little girl to spoil. Oh my god, his other reason is so ridiculous!"
