Cydo's pov
I'm really growing used to Jack coming to my room every morning and taking me hunting. It's been a week since I was brought here by my Alpha. I still refuse to talk to anyone, but I think I can trust them.
Jeff, as well as everyone else, has been careful to not anger me. They've grown used to me and in a way, I've grown used to them.
Today started like usual, I get up, get dressed, and Jack takes me hunting. We were on our way back when Jack stopped.
"Hey Cydo." he called.
"What?" I asked him.
"Catch."
I tilted my head before he tossed a small object at me. I caught it as it flew toward me. I looked in my hands to find a blue and silver bracelet.
I looked at him with curiosity.
"Because you gave me the ring. I thought I should return the favor." he told me, holding up his hand to show me the ring.
"Thank you. It's very beautiful." I told him. I tried to clip it on my wrist, but couldn't get the clip on. Jack laughed at my struggle.
"Here. I got it." he said. I held it out to him and he took it. He gently took my wrist and clipped it on.
"Thank you." I said, embarrassed.
"No problem."
I looked up at the sky and noticed all of the stars. I've never seen so many. I've always been hiding in the city, so all of the lights blocked them out. Jack must've noticed my wonder.
"You've never seen so many stars have you?" he asked me. I shook my head.
"Never."
"You should look at the stars at the mansion. You'll love it."
I looked at him as he gazed up. I felt something I've never felt before just looking at him. I didn't know what the feeling was, but it felt nice. I didn't ever want it to leave.
"Hm. I don't think you'll be able to see them tonight. It's starting to cloud up." he told me, "We'd better get back before it rains."
"Ok." I said, following him home.
When we returned, Seed tackled him. It was sudden and knocked Jack down. Knocking his mask off of his face in the process.
"Son of a-" Jack started before Seed stuffed leaves in his face. I giggled and started pushing Seed away. He was huge and heavy, but he was nothing compared to what I've dealt with before.
I pushed him away from Jack with ease. He jumped up immediately and grabbed his mask. Spitting out leaves, he slipped it on, before tackling Seed.
"Head on inside. I'll be there in a few minutes." Jack grumbled as he wrestled with Seed. I nodded and headed in.
Jeff and BEN were playing games as usual. Of course, BEN was winning.
"Sup Cydo." Jeff greeted.
"Yo! Waz up Cydo!" BEN exclaimed.
"Totally unnecessary." Jeff commented. I shook my head as I sat next to Jeff on the couch. He offered his controller and I shook my head. He replied with a shrug.
I watched them play for a bit, before Jack walked in. He sat on the other side of me. He had leaves and twigs stuck in his hair.
I had the sudden impulse to pull them out and brush his hair, but I knew that he would do it himself.
"Heheh. Seed?" Jeff asked.
"Yeah. He decided to be a pain and not let me inside." Jack deadpanned. He noticed my gaze and I hadn't realized that I was looking intently at his face.
"What?" he asked. I dipped my head.
"You want something. I know that look." he said. I did want something, but even if Jeff and BEN weren't around. I was still a little nervous about asking him for things.
"You don't have to ask if you want something just go-" I cut him off by absentmindedly running my fingers through his hair. Pulling out leaves and twigs.
I ended up standing on my knees and intently pulling every leaf, every twig, every blade of grass, out of his hair. He said nothing as I did so, even when BEN or Jeffery chuckled or smirked.
After untangling any knots left behind from Seed and the plantlife, I sat back down and rested my chin on my knees. Wrapping my arms around my legs and watching the tv. Jack looked at me for a moment before shaking his head and watching the boys play their game as well.
Sally and Lulu came in and played on the floor with Charlie and Smile.Dog.
I had met Smile earlier this week. He had growled at me because I was a stranger and I'd growled back. Thankfully Jack and Jeff intervened before we could get any further than that.
Smile is a large blood red and black husky. He has a huge Smile that makes him look like Jeff. Which makes sense, because he's technically Jeff's dog. Like me and Seed, his diet consists of human. He's actually pretty sweet when he knows you're not a threat.
It began to rain at some point during the day and no one paid it any mind. Then lightning flashed and my heart rate picked up, knowing what comes next.
Boom!
I freaked out and yelped, curling into a ball while pressing up against Jack. He raised his arms in confusion.
"No fuckin' way." BEN said.
"Cydo? Are you... Afraid of thunder?" Jack asked me. I only shivered in fear. Lightning cracked across the sky before another roll of thunder came.
I whimpered and pressed closer to my Alpha. He put his arms on me and tried sitting me up.
"Come on. It's just a loud sound. It can't hurt you. God damn." he said, annoyed.
More lightning and more thunder. I buried my head into Jack's side as I whinned. Sally became worried.
"Jacky? Is Cydo otay?" she asked. Jack groaned.
"Yeah she's fine. Go back to your game." he growled at her. He wrapped his arms around me and picked me up.
I buried my face in his neck and gripped his hoody tight as he carried me upstairs. It thundered again and I drove my claws into him.
"Hell no. Get the claws out of me." he told me. He held me with one hand for a moment, so he could remove my claws from his flesh.
He carried me to my room and closed the door behind us. The moment he set me on the bed, the thunder cracked. I yelped and scrambled under the bed, cowering from the thunder.
"Uh, no. We are not hiding under the bed." Jack told me. He got on the floor and reached under the bed.
"How did you get under here so fast? You barely fit." he mumbled. I only whimpered. He grabbed my leg and tried pulling me out, but my claws in the carpet said otherwise.
"Cydo. Come on. Sally's not afraid of thunder... Then again... She sleeps with that fuckin' bear. But come on!" he growled.
He grabbed my legs and pulled me out, my claws tearing carpet the whole way. Before I could bolt back under, he wrapped his arms around me in a tight grip. He pulled me up on the bed and held me still as I whimpered.
Another flash and another boom. I squirmed and whinned, but Jack refused to let go. I ended up curled deep in his arms, trying to escape the thunder.
After a bit, Jack began rubbing his hand on my back.
"It's alright. It can't hurt you. And if it could, I wouldn't let it." he told me softly. I pouted into his hoody, afraid. He continued to whisper reassuring words to me and they helped a bit.
The storm lasted until a little past the usual sleeping time. The thunder still rolled, but it got quieter as the rain slowed down. I had eventually fallen asleep in Jack's embrace.
Maybe he does care...
