Chapter 16

Jack's pov

The moment Cydo saw me, I found out just how bad I fucked up. She looked horrible. She apparently hadn't come out of her room since it happened.

She looked thin from starvation, and that was after Jeff had taken her hunting. Her hair was a mess and her eyes were dull.

The moment she saw me... She yelped and ran upstairs in fear. Obviously to her room.

I was so angry at myself that I couldn't control the urge and punched the fucking wall.

"Whoa! Dude! Chill out! What the fuck?" BEN said. I didn't care.

"Dude, what happened?" Masky asked. I didn't answer.

"Jack you need to calm down." Hoodie said. I wouldn't.

"Jack, wait." Slender told me. I didn't listen.

I turned and stormed right out the door, slamming it behind me. I didn't know where I was going. Or what I was doing. But I needed to be alone at the moment.

My head was pounding, but I hardly noticed. What am I supposed to do? Cydo can't look at me or she'll freak out. How will anything go back?

God damn it Jack. Why did you have to be so fucked up?

I kept walking until it got dark out and I reached a town. It wasn't like me, but I took my anger and frustration out on people. I didn't even take their kidneys, I just slaughtered them like an animal.

I'm so sorry Cydo...

I'm such a monster.

Cydo's pov

I felt a presence in my room again and I looked up through my tears to see Slender. He rested a hand on my shoulder as I continued to cry.

"I know. With something like this it's hard to forgive and forget. Jack isn't in the best of spirits either. When you ran in fear, he ran as well. I'm not sure where he is, but I'm sure he's very upset about what he'd done." Slender told me.

'I wish I wasn't afraid. If I could just have my bravery back, but he took it from me.' I thought.

"You are only as brave as you think you are. Just think of the incident as a bad dream. A bad dream that felt real even though it wasn't." he said. I nodded.

'I'll try.'

"Good. I'll have to wait until Jack returns so I can talk with him again. Get some rest. Jeff will take you hunting until this is all straightened out. I promise, nothing will happen."

I nodded again.

'Ok. I hope one day,... We can forget this.'

"I hope so too Cydo. I hope so too." he said before leaving.

I just sat on my bed, just staring off into space, when there was a knock on my door. I sniffed and caught the faint smell of BEN and Jeff.

"Hey Cydo. You still up?" BEN asked. I took a deep breath and brought up enough courage to get up and walk to the door. I opened it slowly.

"Hey, uh, you ok?" BEN asked nervously. I gave a small nod as I wiped any remaining tears off my face.

"You wanna come down and play Mario cart with us?" Jeff asked in his raspy voice.

I thought for a moment. I'll be with them the whole time. They may not be strong enough, but they would help me if I needed it.

I nodded slowly and stepped out, closing my door. BEN and Jeff gave me smiles. It's a good thing I made friends with these goofballs. I returned a small smile to them.
