Not cooperating

Kayla's pov

After norman left to go to work, flanery and I watched movies till Mingus arrived. After that, the day has been consumed of video games. I was in the kitchen making cookies as I heard the two screaming at each other in the other room.

"You're so going down!" Mingus yelled.

"In your dreams little man!" Sean yelled back.

I chuckled. They sounded like two little kids. Well Mingus was one, but sean was a child stuck in a middle age mans body. The video game was really loud so all you could hear throughout the place was the sound of gunfire and yelling. I'm surprised our neighbors didn't come and think here was a mass slaughter going on. I chuckled listening to the two as I went back to making the dough. I was brought to a stop when a sharp pain spread across my abdomen. I took in a deep breath and gripped onto the side if the counter and waited for it to pass. I had been getting these a few hours after norman left for work. They usually went away after a few minutes and would come back like an hour later, but recently it had been like every 5 minutes. Once it passed, I took a deep breath and wiped the sweat off my forehead going back to stirring the dough.

"Stop it!" I heard Mingus yell.

"No" sean yelled and then I heard what sounded like something getting hit followed by Mingus yelling,

"Ow! Hey not fair!"

"Life's not fair!" Sean yelled.

I decided to go see what the commotion was and made my way to the living room. I entered seeing sean standing up with his arms raised as Mingus sat on the couch with his arms crossed.

"I'm da master!" Sean said talking like Connor causing me to chuckle.

They both looked at me and and Mingus immediately said,"no! You cheated! Kayla, sean cheated! He threw a pillow at me!"

I started laughing when sean immediately said,"did not! Ya got no proof!"

"What about the pillow being on the ground?" Mingus whined.

"I was framed!" Sean yelled causing me to laugh harder.

"Alright alright, you two behave, I'm gonna go put the cookies in the oven" I smiled.

I walked back into the kitchen and grabbed the tray the dough was on and started to put it into the oven. I stopped immediately when that pain came again. Only this time it was far worse than it ever was. It caused me to let out a yelp and drop the pan on the ground as my hands shot to my stomach.

Sean's pov

"Cheater" Mingus accused.

I smirked and ruffled the kids hair,"me cheat? I'm hurt you would think that of me Ming"

He rolled his eyes and picked up the game controller,"I want a rematch"

"You are so on!" I said grabbing the other controller.

He started getting the game ready when I heard what sounded like a pan hitting the floor and a yelp come from the kitchen. Mingus and I both looked in that direction and I yelled,

"Kayla ya alright?"

When we didn't hear anything I turned back to Ming and said, "she probably burnt her hand on the stove. Get everything ready and I'll go see if she's alright."

He nodded and I set the controller on the coffee table as I got up,"now don't start without me, that would be cheating"

"Coming from the king of cheating" he grunted making me cubicle and shake my head.
