CLOSER

Five minutes later, I was still staring at my phone hoping that Ryan would reply. But he didn't.

"Tsk-tsk-tsk. Did he force you to confess?" I heard Hunter's voice. I rolled my eyes on his comment and he burst into a laugh. What's funny? "Ryan is lot better than you. He doesn't 'force' people to do something," I taunted. "And I forced you to do what?" I heard him say. I wasn't facing him but I knew he was raising his brow at me. "Everything."

"Kiera." Everything in me froze when I heard my name. No, this can't be it. How can this be possible? I wasn't expecting him. He shouldn't be here.

I slowly and carefully turned on my heels and Hunter came into sight and beside him... was he.

"I thought you said you were at home studying Twilight," his voice was hard, even emotionless. "What the hell are you doing here with him?" he started taking short steps towards me. "R-Ryan, it's not like what you think, I can explain," I don't know why but I was scared. "Then what it is like, Kiera?" he breathed. I glanced at Hunter but he was just standing there like a statue with a disgusted look on his face. Why wasn't he saying anything? I wanted him to stand up for me like he always did but he just wouldn't say a word right now! I shifted my gaze back to Ryan, who was now standing in front of me, "Uh... Dina asked me to come here," I whispered. "And you agreed?" he seethed. When I didn't reply him, he sighed again. "How many times I have to tell you to stay away from him? Then why can't you just?" he jolted my arms.

Yes, exactly! Why can't I? Why can't I? "I'm-I'm s-sor-rry," I blurted. I didn't meet his eyes because I knew they were filled with anger. But I did hear him sigh again. "And you," there was a pause in his voice, "why can't you tell that fucking Dina to stay away from her?" when I looked up, I saw Ryan was facing Hunter. "Watch your mouth, Maxwell," Hunter clenched his jaw. "And you watch your so-called girlfriend, Reid," Ryan raised his voice. Hunter chuckled, "Says the one who can't handle his own." "I can treat her better than you can," Ryan shouted. "I don't think so. Last time when I saw you both together, you were threatening her," Hunter gave us a tight smile, which wasn't in a good way. "You think you're very smart, huh?" Ryan was going to launch at Hunter just when I pulled him back and faced him. "Ryan, Ryan," I confronted him. He was breathing like a bull and his eyes were red. "Ryan," I cupped his face in my hands and forced him to look down at me. "Listen, please," but he just wouldn't look at me. "Ryan!" I raised my voice and he finally dragged his gaze from Hunter to me. His nose was brushing mine and his eyes met mine. "No need to argue, okay?" I whispered. It was a brave move to do for me because I never did such kind of moment with anyone. I never liked people so close to me. And here, I was pulling him closer. "Let's...let's just go," I breathed. He nodded and took my hand away from his face and clasped it in his'. As I took a step forward, my ankle hurt and I yelped. "You okay?" Ryan's voice was filled with concern. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just fell and hurt myself," I told him. "I'm serious, Kiera. Are you fine? Do you want me to pick you up?" suddenly all the anger had faded from his eyes and concern replaced it. "No, no. I can walk, Ryan," I assured him. He had mood swings too, just like Hunter. He gave me a warm smile and my heart fluttered. An involuntary smile occupied my mouth. Wow.

We started walking, taking slow steps so that I could keep up with him. I glanced up at Hunter who was glaring at me with those ice blue eyes and they were making holes in mine and he was clenching his jaw. It was clear he was still angry. But where was Dina? Why wasn't she standing there with him? Comforting him and all like she always does. But why do I care.

We passed Hunter and settled into Ryan's Mustang. The drive was silent. Just the opposite of the previous one. I constantly stared out of the window throughout the drive. "Did-did Hunter hurt you anywhere in the past days?" Ryan broke the silence. I turned and faced him but his eyes were fixed on the road. "No," I replied, "why would he hurt me?" "Uh... I was just thinking that he'd try to hurt you, when I wasn't around, just to hurt me," he whispered. What? He was being pointless in a way. But... should I tell him about our... kiss? And him saying that 'I belong to him'? But Hunter didn't hurt me in a way. Yeah, he was a bit dominant type but he didn't hurt me nor did he force me to break-up with Ryan. He just said that if Ryan kissed me again he'll kill him. But that was a kind of warning too that Ryan should stay away from me. But today he didn't do anything while me and Ryan were having our 'moment'. He just stood there watching us. Was that warning just a bluff? "You never answered me," Ryan's voice interrupted my thoughts. "NO!" I exclaimed suddenly, "I mean, he didn't-didn't hurt me. He didn't even talked to me those past few days," I lied because I thought it'd be better if Ryan shouldn't be aware of those 'things'. "Hmm," he hummed.
