HIS POV
I've been waiting by the door while tapping my fingers on the table.
In a few minutes, I know the annoying Emily will come into my house and pester me again.
I looked at my watch. Just seconds left and I'm sure that door will open... wait, why am I waiting for her anyway?
"5... 4... 3... 2... and..." I stood up and turned around.
"1..." I heard the door open but I kept my back turned.
"So, you're going to annoy me again, Wyk? Aren't you tired of it? Psh."
"I'm not Emily."
The moment I heard that, I suddenly felt something heavy in my chest. She didn't come to my house today, for the first time. Wow. Finally, I can roam around my house without that girl.
"Good to know." Then James walked in, carrying a bag of food.
"We just stopped by, bud. Emily asked me to bring this for you." I crossed my arms and watched James as he served me the food.
"We're heading out now, we can't stay long. I'm taking Gwyn home. You alright here?" I nodded.
I wanted to ask them where Emily was. Not that I care, I just want to know where that girl is squeezing herself into.
"So, you're looking for Emily... huh?" My brow furrowed.
"Nope, I just got used to her always coming over. Besides, I don't like her around." I turned my back and headed to my room.
I locked myself in, lay down on the bed, staring at the ceiling. I didn't notice that I fell asleep. When I woke up, the morning sun was welcoming me. Looks like I overslept.
I glanced beside me and saw my sketch pad. I smiled, remembering how good I was at drawing back in college.
I went out of my room and saw the food on the table. I quickly served myself and ate a lot. After eating, I went back to my room, grabbed my sketch pad and pencil.
"Seems like I still have the talent to draw." I laughed.
"But what should I draw?" Or maybe... who?
Nevermind. I set the sketchpad down, took off my shirt, and laid back in bed. I'll just sleep.
I didn't realize it was already 3 PM. I suddenly sat up, irritated by a voice I knew too well. I stared at her, blankly.
"Well, you're not even going to welcome me back? Don't you miss me, Travy?"
"Why, who are you?" I rolled my eyes, stood up. I saw she was holding a bag of food. She ignored my question.
"Hey, Travis, it's Friday. Why don't you try going out so you're not moping around here in your house?!" She's starting to tell me what to do again.
She's lecturing me like I'm some damn kid.
Do I look like someone who would want to go out in this situation? No matter what I do, nothing's going to change.
Let's say I go out and make everyone happy, but what's the point? Their happiness means nothing if, in the end, I'm still sad.
Nonsense.
"Travis, don't you want to fix your life? I mean, you can still be like your old self!" As I walked, she just followed me.
"Aren't you tired of nagging me every day? Besides, you're not my mom, and you're not even family. You have no right to tell me what to do because, first of all, we live in a democratic country."
