HIS POV
I stared at Emily's back while she was busy cooking. Why is this girl so patient? Last time I checked, only James had the patience to deal with me. I wonder what she has eaten for her to be this consistent with me.
"Hey, Travy! Eat this food I cooked. It tastes even better than what James brings you."
"How would I know if it's poisoned?"
"Are you stupid? Why would I poison you, huh?! I want you to stay alive, not kill you!"
I rolled my eyes. I sat in front of her, watching her serve my food.
"Oops, Travis. You have hands. Get your own food."
"What!? This is my house. You should serve me!"
"First of all, Goosen, I'm your guest, so you should be taking care of me. Second, I'm not your maid, and I don't get paid for this. And lastly, if you know you can do it yourself, why don't you? Stop passing it on to others."
Yeah, whatever. This girl always leaves me with life lessons.
"Is it good?"
It is. She's not a bad cook after all?
"It's okay."
"What do you mean, 'okay'?"
"Just fine."
"Ugh, whatever, Goosen! If I ever become a chef, don't you dare eat my dishes!"
"Why would I eat something that isn't good? I'm picky with what I eat, Wyk. I don't just swallow anything."
"So, that means you like my cooking?"
"No, I just didn't have a choice but to eat what you served. James didn't send any food today."
I was surprised when she suddenly took the plate away from me.
"Then don't eat it. Cook your own food."
She walked away from me, taking everything, including the plate.
"Here's a cup of coffee, Travis."
"Yeah, coffee and I aren't friends."
"Okay, you like tea, not coffee. Why?"
"Because I'm allowed to like what or who I want."
I just went to my room. I didn't realize it was already afternoon.
The moment I opened my door, I saw a note stuck on it.
"I'll just go to the church, Travy. I prepared a new dish for you, eat well! Don't be picky, just eat it."
I smirked.
"Her handwriting is so ugly."
I went to the kitchen and saw what she had cooked. I took a bite.
"Damn, it's so delicious."
I almost finished an entire plate of rice and the dish she made. I was about to drink some water when I suddenly heard Emily's voice.
"See? It's good, right? You were just being difficult, Goosen."
"I was hungry. Of course, I'd eat it. My stomach was growling."
"Ugh, you just don't want to swallow your pride."
"Whatever, Wyk."
I suddenly noticed the color of her skin. Why does she look yellowish? Even her eyes?
"I'll just take a rest, Travy. I'm tired."
Tired? The church is just a few steps away from my house. It's not that far.
