HIS POV (Listen to Just The Way You Are for feels)
Four months.
It's been four months since the world turned upside down. Like before, Emily was always the one coming to me, but now? The world has flipped.
I'm the one going to her.
I've been staring at Emily for thirty minutes because she's been looking for a good movie to watch. I kept suggesting Nicholas Sparks movies, but she kept searching for tragic and horror films.
I picked up her notebook and saw the number 4.
4. Movie marathon. Watch 10 movies.
"There you go!" she exclaimed, giggling like a child.
"What movie is that?" I glanced at the screen and furrowed my brow.
"You invited me here... just to watch Minions?" She nodded. I scratched my head as the movie began.
Why am I even here, watching Despicable Me 3 with her? I should be watching action films at home. Damn it.
"They look so cute," she said, causing me to glance at her.
The amazement in her eyes when the little yellow creatures talked was worth capturing. The smile on her face when the minions spoke was irreplaceable.
I took my phone, planning to take a picture of her when she blocked her face and snatched my phone away.
"I don't like the idea of being captured."
"Why?"
"I'm not beautiful. I'm not confident in myself. As much as I want to be photographed, my face can't afford that." I sighed, staring into her eyes, and whispered in her ear.
"You know, in the eyes of someone who truly sees the beauty in you... you're already gorgeous... no matter how many people tell you otherwise."
"Thanks... but put your phone down," she replied, smiling.
"The bossy Emily."
"I don't like being with someone who focuses on taking cute and silly pictures with me. I mean, for what? We have minds. Our minds are enough to capture every moment with someone important to us."
"It helps a lot because if you want to remember a moment, you can look at the pictures. You can reminisce about that moment."
"Travis, if you can't remember something, maybe it isn't worth remembering?" She smiled, and I stared at her.
"Don't capture our moment together with a camera. Use this..." She pointed to my eyes.
"...and this." She pointed to my heart.
"Trust me, you won't forget me if you put me there. No matter how many cameras you use to capture me, it's still worthless because you'll only remember one person if you never abandon them in your heart." She pointed to my heart again.
"Learn to live in the moment." She began watching again.
"But what if I forget you... when I get old?"
"Travis, a heart that loves... never forgets."
While we were in the middle of the movie, the door suddenly opened. I saw Gwyn running out of breath. I immediately stood up and walked toward her.
"TRAVIS, YOU HAVE TO GO NOW! EMILY'S PARENTS ARE HEADING TO THIS ROOM!" I quickly lifted Emily and laid her back in her bed.
I hurriedly picked up all the chocolate scattered on the floor. I waved goodbye to Emily and left her room as quickly as I could.
