HER POV

"You look so tired, Emily. Have you been neglecting your health again?" I shook my head and smiled at her. I want to convince her that I'm fine.

"I'm just thirsty," I said as I grabbed a glass of water.

"You got tired so quickly, and we were barely even running." After drinking, I tied my hair up.

I was startled when Gwyn lifted my shirt. My eyes widened at what I saw. I looked at her.

"Why do you have a lump in your abdomen, Emily?" I quickly pulled my shirt down. I don't even know why that suddenly appeared.

"Maybe it's just a boil."

"Tell me, what happened? Shit! Emily! Just because you're busy taking care of Travis doesn't mean you should stop taking care of yourself! Stop focusing only on Travis, Emily. You need to take care of yourself too. If you get sick, will Travis take care of you?" I could only sigh.

I looked at Gwyn, and her face was filled with concern. I'm very lucky to have her as my best friend. She's been there for me since day one.

"I know, Gwyn."

"If you know, then why aren't you doing anything about it, Emily? You've been taking care of Travis for the past nine months, and you're forgetting about yourself!"

"No, it's not like that."

"It is, Emily. Don't you see? You get home late every Monday to Friday. Your parents think you're visiting the orphanage, but in reality, you're taking care of that guy who doesn't even care about you!"

I suddenly felt sad when I heard that.

It's true—Travis doesn't care about me. I'm the one who keeps bothering him and forcing myself into his life for some unknown reason. It's frustrating.

I can't bring myself to stay away from Travis. No matter how much I try to distance myself, it never works.

No matter how many times I try to stay away from him, I always find myself in front of his house, taking care of him, even though he doesn't want me to.

"Emily, I've noticed so many things about you. You get tired easily now, you have something growing in your abdomen, and you barely have an appetite." She stepped closer to me and held my cheek.

"Now tell me, is this what you call taking care of yourself, Emily? Is this it?"

I'm so sorry, Gwyn.

"I'm just lacking sleep. I'll be okay soon. Trust me, Gwyn. You don't have to worry about me. I can take care of myself, remember?"

We hugged each other. Out of all the people I've met, Gwyn is my closest friend.

She's my home. No matter how many friends I have, no one can replace her. She's the best.

I went home early and saw my mom sleeping. I kissed her forehead and changed my clothes. Then I left right away and ran to Travis's house.

I hadn't even gone far from home when I was already gasping for air. I decided to walk slowly, and when I reached his house, I heard Travily's bark. My baby.

"Travily!" She ran toward me and started licking me. I carried her and looked around the house. No Travis around? He's probably locked up in his room again.

Suddenly, my vision darkened, and I lost my balance. I thought I was going to collapse, but I felt someone's arms catch me.

"Do you not have money? Why don't you eat before coming here to bother me?" When my vision cleared, I faced him. I was still carrying Travily while looking up at him.
