HIS POV
I browsed the internet and waited for my customers. I'm starting to be a carpenter again. I just realized that I have to work in order to save money.
As I stirred my tea, I heard the door open. It's probably Emily again. I stepped out of my room, but the figure I saw was different. I frowned.
"What are you doing here? You trespassed, Gwyn."
"I'm just here to confront you. Why are you treating Emily like this?" I furrowed my brows and laughed sarcastically.
"And now... it's my fault? Really, huh? You're making me laugh. For your information, Gwyn, your friend voluntarily did everything for me. I didn't ask her to do that. I didn't plead or beg." I walked closer to her.
"So don't blame me. It was her choice to do such things for me."
"And you're obviously taking advantage of what she's doing, Travis. Can't you appreciate her efforts for you?" She stepped away from me and sat on the sofa.
"Do you even know that right after our class, she goes straight to you? Do you know that? That Emily always talks about you? She wants to help you fix yourself!"
"I don't care about her!"
"And that's exactly Emily's mistake! She cares about you even though you don't care about her!"
"Then blame her!"
"I can't blame her because I've known her for being that kind! If you only knew how many people she helped fix themselves... Emily is really good at putting broken people back together, even if they end up breaking her!"
"But I don't need her help! Or anyone's help! That's what I hate the most! People say they want to help, but then they hold it over your head like a debt. This is not my goddamn fault! I repeat, if anyone's at fault, it's Emily! She keeps wasting her time on me! So, go the fuck home and talk to her! Tell her to stop showing up at my house and fucking stop pestering me!" I couldn't help but get annoyed. People always blame me.
This is what I hated the most.
"Travis, appreciate her efforts! Don't wait for the time when she stops caring, because when that time comes, I swear, no matter how much you apologize or try to win her back, it won't work. When she stops caring, she stops completely! She can ignore you like you never even knew each other!" She stood up, but before walking out, she stared into my eyes.
"She can also turn into the coldest person... and you wouldn't like that."
I turned toward the door and saw Emily smiling. I couldn't even look at her after everything Gwyn had just said.
"Gwyn, what are you doing here?"
"Nothing, Ems. I just checked on Travis. James asked me to bring him something." I looked at the table and saw a bag of food.
"Anyway, I have to go now. James is waiting for me at the campus."
The moment she left, we were surrounded by silence.
"I'll do my school requirements here," Emily said, making me look at her. Her bag looked completely stuffed. She was also carrying thick books.
"Don't you have a house?" I frowned.
"Of course, I do!"
"Then do your work there, not here. You have a house, yet you're invading someone else's."
"But I want to do it here... and besides, you don't care, right? So it's fine if I do whatever I want... since you don't care, anyway."
"Whatever." I went straight to my room and grabbed my hoodie.
