School... again
~*~
My eyes and my brain wandered far as I stood in line at the cafeteria. Suddenly, I jumped as a small hand plodded me on the shoulder. I whirled around. Tree, the flirty annoying git who's always toying with my sister, was standing right behind me.
"What?" I asked, annoyed.
"Moove, buddy," said Tree.
I glanced ahead. The line was surging forward. I cursed and moved a few inches. The line was getting shorter.
"I'm in love...," said Tree dreamily.
"Oh, you say that every day," I laughed as I rolled my eyes.
"This is true love," persisted Tree.
I sighed and ignored his love babble as the line moved forward again and I got my excuse to go over and order food.
After collecting my tray, I walked over to Analisa's table. She was sitting with the usual people, Francis and Gillian and some new people, Dianne and those two new boys... What's their name? Ah yes, Thorin and Trafalgar. Strange names. They were sitting there... Yeah, Fran and Gil were the helpers for newbies. My sister... I mean sisters seemed quite aquainted with those boys, though.
"Dan! Come 'ere!" sad Gillian, waving her energetic hands and bouncing up and down in the process. I've wondered for a long time if she had ADHD or something.
Trafalgar was immersed in a book with the title-- Dissecting Insects: Putting the Cells Into Humans. Urgh! Thorin was talking with Dianne, who was laughing heartily. As I plonked myself down beside Analisa, I heard the voice again.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I present... Tree! Give him a space so he could sit."
Tree. Again.
"There's space here," said Trafalgar, pointing next to him without looking up from his book.
Tree shook his head dramatically and used his butt to push me out of the way as he placed himeself between me and Analisa.
"Fair maiden," said Tree, bowing with all that drama. "A drink, perhaps?"
Analisa rolled her eyes in such a wide circle I was worried that her eyeballs would vanish under her eyelids.
Dianne looked across at Tree and said, "Hi."
"My lady...," Tree started again.
"Stop it, Alders," I muttered.
"And how about you, young prince?" asked Tree, wagging his annoying index finger at me.
I sighed and buried my head in my lunch.
"Oh," said Dianne, trying to change the subject. "Thorin was just telling me about his extraordinary accident with a puddle."
That's a feeble attempt, but I decided to follow it up. I lifted my head from the beef casserole I was digging into, and said, "Oh? A puddle?"
"Yes," sighed Thorin.
I dug in again. I jerked my head up wildly as I heard my name.
"Dan!" Analisa was saying. Apparently, they've changed subjects again.
"What?" I stuttered.
"Thorin was asking you a question, dummy," said Tree.
I glared at him and felt my pale cheeks burn.
"I asked if you like bugs," said Thorin sheepishly.
"Those ugly, black tiny creatures?" I answered, "Nah."
Trafalgar finally looked up from his book and said, "You shouldn't say that. Bugs have many different cells and 70% of the human body is made up of water."
Am I correct to say that all this information made no sense to me? Argh!

As you can see, each of the characters actually has a different personality and they quarrel a lot. But as time flies, will they change after all? Who knows....
