(Present Day)
Garrett pauses and takes a drink of water, also giving time for Agent Fields to catch up. Fields puts the last period on the piece of typing that he is doing and then he looks up and makes eye contact with Garrett. "You let your friend kill himself because he was bit?"
"What did you want me to do?" Garrett said frustrated and shrugging his shoulders. "This was MY first day out in this world." He uses his own finger and jabs it in his chest to empathize 'my.' "Don't get me wrong Agent Fields, I have never been a coward in all my life. But I have never seen blood before.....that much blood. At the moment I left Chris's house I knew the world was never going to be the same. I was changing into a different person right then and there, you'll see when the time in the story comes." Garrett takes another sip of the water in front of him and waits for Fields to ask him another question.
"May we continue?" Fields asked placing his fingers back on the keyboard of his laptop and waiting for his interviewee to speak.
(Three years ago, Day 1)
Saying that the Police Station was right across the street from Chris's house was an understatement. Sure, it was close, but it was also far enough to get him killed as well. The Station was six blocks down, through all the cars and possible Walkers. Garrett isn't too worried about getting through the cars. Chris had put a brush guard on his truck after he hit too many deer on the road. The brush guard will be nice to move the cars, and for killing Walkers. The down side to the truck is that it is loud, really loud, every single Walker in the town could hear it pretty much.
He stands still for a while, thinking about what to do. Thinking about the body of his friend in the building behind him. He wipes a couple tears off his face with his arm. He figures he might as well take the truck, if other people are there they should help him if it gets too heavy. Garrett then gets in Chris's truck and closes the door. He inserts the key into the ignition and starts it up. Of course, it starts up with a big vroom, vroom. He looks around quickly, and not seeing any Walkers surprisingly. Pulling the truck in drive he slowly creeps out onto the road, moving cars that are in his way with the brush guard.
About three blocks away Garrett glances over at a house, its door is open and a figure is stumbling out of it. He knew the truck would draw Walkers to him, but was he ready? Was he really ready to fight one of these disgusting creatures? He sure didn't want to end up like one of them. All he wanted to do was live and hopefully he will.
Getting to the police station. Garrett gets out of the truck, and quietly shuts the door. Not thinking that the truck was loud enough for anything to hear. He then looks down the road at the Walker coming towards him, slowly. This is a female, maybe in her 40s, blonde long hair. He was wearing a tank top and sweatpants when she died. Garrett can clearly see the bit mark on her arm which sways back and forth as she stumbles towards him.
Garrett reaches for his colt, but what are the chances of him hitting her? He has gone to the gun range before, he knows how to shoot, he just isn't every well at it, especially at this range. He looks in the bed of Chris's truck quickly and finds a crowbar which he grabs and then looks back at the Walker coming towards him. If he times this right, he can get into the police station and shut the door before the Walker is upon him.
He inhales and exhales deeply and then sprints to the door which is not that far away. He then opens the door and shuts them. The only bad thing about this plan is that the doors are glass, he can still see the Walker coming towards him. "Shit." He mutters looking around for an item to block the door. He sees a mop in a bucket not too far from he which he grabs the mop and puts the handle through the the door handles to stop the Walker.
