(Flashblack)
The sun seemed to be mocking him as he sit on top of the house he lived in. How could something so beautiful seem to be so sinful at the same time? He couldn't even hear the Walkers that were grabbing at him from the window. All he could he was himself crying. He never seemed to cry so much in his life than at this moment.
Adam finally raised his head to look at the Walkers in the window. Their arms outreached still grabbing for him. They terrified him.
The Walkers tore down the bathroom door where he, his girlfriend, his mom and his sister were hiding. He was the only one to make it out. The Walkers bit into everyone else that he loved. He couldn't save them.
He cried out for his twin brother again. "David!" Still no response from him. He could be dead too.
Up here on his roof, it's like looking down at the world. You can see the trees, the flowers, the grass and of course the Walkers going on about the day looking for their next victim.
The roof is a jumble of colors from pale terracotta to a deeper reddish-brown. There is lichen more on some tiles than others making them almost white. Many of the tiles are like this because his uncle would come over and help his dad fix the roof with 'cheap finds' as he called them. Those including ones that people didn't want anymore so they would be put out in the trash, bought at a garage sale or even found along the side of the road after a wind storm. All along the peak there are long rounded tiles, like a tube cut in half, joining the two sides. But what commands the attention is the chimney.
Still those things try to grab at him from the window. One of the Walkers that he sees at the window he could only describe as looking like some kind of horrific burn victim, for she had no skin on her face. The lack of eyelids gave her eyeballs a popping look as they swiveled in their sockets, searching for her next meal. Her hair, what was left of it, was grey and pulled into a granny's bun, like some dear old lady, but whoever she had been, she was now the enemy.
He couldn't stay up on this roof forever he thought to himself as he wipes his eyes with his arm and stood up. He had to get out of here, no matter what. He just had to leave and get far way from what has happened. If he remembers correctly his car should be right down below him.
He checks over the side to see if his car is there, it is. He looks for any Walkers that are around, there seems to be none. So carefully he sits down at the edge and lets his legs tangle over the rain gutters.
Even though he was on the track team, the height is something to be fearful of. A fall like this could easily break his ankle. But what else did he have to lose? So he jumps off the edge.
He hits the ground, absorbing the impact with his knees. But he did land funny. He tweeted his ankle a bit due to the fall. He looks back to check the garage door that is opened. A body lies there motionless in the middle of the floor. The body of his father.
His father went out into the garage to check to see if everything was clear, it obviously wasn't. He remains motionless in the middle of the floor. Bloodily chucks are clearly visible where the Walkers took bites out of him.
Adam again wipes his eyes and opens his car door. He reaches around his neck for the key-chain for his keys and starts his car. Adam looks back at the garage for a last time. That's when he sees his father start to twitch. Something inside him told him to leave, so he did.
(Back on the farm.)
Their feet pounded the grass beneath them as they sprinted back to the house. They needed to find out who shot? It obviously wasn't Randal because he was already dead. As they ran, out of the corner of their eyes they could see Walkers start to come out of the woods.
