There, the highway was in sight as Mitchel and the others creeped through the brush and around the trees. In front of him walks a reanimated Torri. She had turned maybe two hours after she died, just like William had said she would. Mitchel had taking some precautionary steps to make her safe though. Her hands her bound behind her back, and if her hands broke free, her arms certainly wouldn't because those are tied too with the rope from Kenny's bag. Another careful step was placing the rope across her mouth, gagging her.
Too Mitchel, this wasn't a Walker. It was still Torri. His girlfriend was still in there somewhere. All he had to do was find her.
The others have stayed silent throughout the idea. Nobody has objected to Mitchel's actions. Until Lucas pipes up from the back. "You're a lunatic." She knows he has heard her. The tables have suddenly turned. For once she wasn't the 'lunatic.'
"Shut up." Mitchel coldly told her with a blank stare. He didn't know if he was doing the right thing. In fact, he knew he wasn't. But what could he do? This was his girlfriend.
As soon as the group of them reached the highway, Dale and Garrett immediately saw what surprise was in-store for them. There Torri appeared with a stream of dried blood coming from her neck. Her mouth gagged and arms tied. They knew it was Torri as soon as they saw her. Garrett couldn't help but wipe a small tear from his eye when he saw her.
The group walked closer and closer. Garrett didn't know what Mitchel was up too. his hand moved down to his colt, which was not at his side. He had forgotten to put it on when he left the RV. So then he motions Dale to give him the hunting rifle which always seemed to be around Dale.
Dale didn't waste anytime grabbing the rifle and giving it to Garrett who checks the chamber of the rifle. With a bullet in the barrel, he slowly walks out to the group stopping them fifteen feet from the RV.
The group behind Mitchel walked over to Garrett's side. They didn't agree with what Mitchel has done. But they don't know how to say it. Garrett and Mitchel stood still as a calm wind blew. It was like showdown at noon, like an old western movie.
Garrett's eyes were the same brown as his fathers, with a cold stare like Clint Eastwood. There was a seriousness about him that unnerved everyone in the group.
Mitchel was a tall thin person. He wasn't the best at talking about a situation. But what he lacked in that category he made up in strength. He had arms kinda like tree trunks. "There a problem Garrett?"
Garrett cradles the rifle he is holding. "You tell me Mitch."
"Well." Mitchel started and then he paused. "You let the others go through, but you haven't let me and my girlfriend through. I believe there is a problem." Did Garrett just hear him correctly? Did he call that Walker his girlfriend?
"Listen to me Mitchel." Garrett commanded as he brings the rifle up a little bit just for his own safety. Seeing this Mitchel goes into a defensive standance. "This isn't Torri, you know that. You're the one that said it's us versus the dead."
"That was before...." Mitchel stopped talking a placed his hand on his forehead.
"Before what?"
"Before this man!" Mitchel bellowed. "Before Torri changed! It ain't the same!"
Garrett didn't know what it was like to lose a love one like this. But something in Mitchel's eye was different, maybe it was rage or maybe it was something different. He knew Mitchel meant business. So he lowers the rifle in his hand to show Mitchel that he means no harm. Still, Mitchel stays in defense mode. "You think Torri is in there somewhere?"
