(Present Day)

Garrett sets down the cup of water down on the table in front of him again. "Getting into the High school was surprisingly easy." He smirked as Agent Fields looked at him at the other side of the table confused. Garrett lets out a little laugh."What did you think it would be like? I sea of Walkers trying to get inside the building?" He laughed out again.

(Three Years Ago, Day 1)

He walked into the school as the sun began to set on his first day of being alone. No signs of people seemed to be inside the school. Garrett shifts the bag of guns on his back as a door opens to his left. With his hand on his colt he turns and looks at the cause. Two people stand before him.

Mitchel Orr steps out of what used to be a teacher lounge with a plastic bag in his hand which is full of food. Mitchel is Garrett's best friend. He is a tall skinny kid with long brown hair that cover his eyes. He has to flip his hair up every so often. He is wearing a shirt that hugs tight to his body and jeans that do the same with his legs.

The girl next to him is Torri Grey, that's Mitchel's girlfriend. They have been together since Garrett can remember. Where one went, the other one went. The two of them looked awkward together if you didn't know them. Mitchel being extremely tall and Torri being extremely short. Her long brown hair goes past her shoulders.

When Garrett stares at the both of them they freeze until Mitchel steps forward, remembering his friend. "Garrett? That you?"

"Mitchel." Garrett mutters with a long pause at the end and then he looks at Torri. "You......you guys are here right?" He said as he looked around quickly and shaked his head to make sure he wasn't dreaming.

"Yes." Mitchel said as both he and Torri rushed over to him. "Your safe now, your okay."

Tears start to flow into Garrett's eyes. He is safe, he never thought he would be safe again. He then takes the bag of guns off his back and practically throws it on the ground. Next he falls onto his knees and completely breaks down. He found people, people he cared about and they were alive.

"Come on Mitchel." Torri said putting a hand on Garrett's shoulder. "Help me get him to the gym with the others." Mitchel nods as he grabs the bag of guns and helps Garrett onto his feet and they all slowly walk to the gym.

Garrett brings himself back down to earth as he calms down and starts to look around. He follows Torri as Mitchel brings up the rear with the bag of guns. They get to the doors of the gym and Torri opens them up. Inside there is a bunch of army cots spread across the gymnasium floor with other people that Garrett knows as well. But that is it, maybe 50 or more cots are set up inside and that is it, no blankets, no pillows, just empty cots.

"The National Guard came in and started setting up everything." Mitchel informed Garrett as he uses his talks with his arms. "They left earlier in the afternoon, maybe around 11'o'clock. Me and Torri started out here, we never got to go back home. The streets were filled with panic and Walkers." Mitchel pauses as if he were remembering something he would like to forget. "The screams man." He looks up at Garrett with glassy eyes. "I'll never forget those screams." He sits down on a cot and Torri sits down next to him and hugs him. The other people begins to crowd around.

The first person the Garrett recognizes is an old friend of his, Kenny Gates. They have known each other since first grade and have been friends ever since. They are the same in height, average. Kenny has his hair extremely short, shorter than any other person around him. Kenny is average built, but he is very courageous. Garrett has never seen him back down from a fight, even if it was a six against one, Kenny would still fight. He had plans of going to college down in Alabama, but it looks like that is on hold for now.

The second person is another old friend, Adam Owens. Garrett has known Adam about the same time he came to know Kenny, in fact Kenny introduced them to each in second grade. Adam has medium blonde, brownish curly hair. He is probably one of the shorter people around. He has never been an out going type of person.

The next is a girl, she has medium black hair that stops just under her ears. Lucas Cooper is a few grades under Garrett. She is a different kind of girl wearing all black. A black t-shirt with a skull that looks like it is melting on the front and also a plaid back and white skirt that ends right above her knees. She is attractive, in a dark and twisted way.

Another girl stands next to Lucas, her name is Deanna Waters. Deanna and Garrett have a history together. They were together, then they weren't, then they were together and then weren't. He never knew why they did that, but they just did. He wasn't looking for a relationship with a long haired red-headed girl. She wore a green V-Neck t-shirt with ripped jeans. They didn't look like they were supposed to be ripped though.

Yet another girl with her, Rebecca Singer. She is the tallest of the girls there. Her blonde hair flows down passed her shoulder. She was probably the most attractive girl in all the school. Not only is she attractive she is smart, quite smart.

Connor Rhimes is a little bit bigger than the others there. His blonde hair goes down to his eyebrows. If anyone could find little in this whole situation it would be Connor. He is always making a joke, or always playing some prank on someone.

"That's about everyone that is here." Mitchel reported as he got up from the cot. "William was here, but he ran out, he said he saw somebody out there earlier. I haven't seen him since."

William Walker as a tough son of a bitch. That's how you could sum him up in a sentence. He is a year behind Garrett but is all about joining the Marines when he gets out of school. He can't wait. Some days at the lunch table that would be all he would talk about. For a skinnier kid, he sure did have muscles for a kid his size.

"You guys don't have a problem with Walkers getting in here?" Garrett questioned looking at the doors that he entered.

"That's where these come in handy." Kenny said piping up with a baseball bat in his hand and practice swinging it. "I always wondered why my dad made me play baseball when I was little." He lets out a little laugh.

Garrett sees that three of the four baseball bats against the wall have blood on them. "Where are they coming in at?"

"Far door at the science labs." Mitchel answered quickly. "We have it covered, we put a couple of tables against it cause of the glass was broken, seems to have done the job for now. The thing is, the doors are glass, they won't hold long. Especially with all the deadies we have outside."

"That's why you had us put some supplies and what not on the second floor, just in case." Kenny said reminding Mitchel and then coming back over to the group with a baseball bat in his hands.

Garrett walks back over to the door that he entered the gym. He looks out the small window and sees a lone Walker outside. This male zombie is middle-aged and has blue eyes, an olive complexion, and curly platinum blond hair.  He is very short, quite muscular, and is wearing very little clothing to speak of.  He is a bit decayed and is missing two fingers on its right hand. This Walker sees Garrett through the small glass window and walks over to the door. It hits a door with a thud.

Hearing the noise at the door everyone looks at the door and sees Garrett standing there staring right back at them.

"I've got this." Kenny said walking over to the door and Garrett moves out of the way. Kenny quickly opens the door and pushes the Walker outside of the gym so he has room to swing the bat. The door shuts behind him and Garrett rushes back over to the window to watch Kenny.

The Walker is now on the ground. Kenny brings the bat over his head and down onto the Walkers head, killing it. Brain matter is scattered across the floor as the head of the Walker is destroyed.
