(Three Years ago, Day 2)

Garrett is awoken by the touch of a hand on his arm. Very quickly the hand starts to shake him. "Hey, Garrett." A voice whispered to him in a fairly nice tone. It was Mitchel's voice, he had a voice that you could pick out from a crowd. "It's your turn on watch man."

Garrett slowly opens his eyes and sees that dawn has just broke. The others were in a corner of the gym, the corner furthest from the doors. It was now his second day living with the undead. "Should I watch for anything?" Garrett yawned as he sat up and rubbed his eyes.

"William is still missing. Watch for him." Mitchel sighed handing over a baseball bat to Garrett. "Oh, more Walkers have gathered around the doors and are trying to get into the school. That might have been our first and last night in the gym. We should probably head upstairs for the new night. With all those Walkers over there they could bust through the doors any minute now."

Garrett stands up with the bat in his hand. He looks down at his side and sees that his colt is still in it's holster. He had forgotten to take it off when he crawled onto the cot. "What do you think about the gun bag I brought with me?"

"I went through some of it last night." Mitchel said walking back over to the bag of guns and taking a shotgun out. "We should get some training in with these as well. It definitely couldn't hurt. Plus, it seems like we got enough ammo to last awhile."

"There's more where that came from too." Garrett smiled. "Believe it or not." Mitchel stares at Garrett, he isn't sure if he is telling the truth or not. "I went to the police station, just a couple shotguns were gone and a couple glocks. I was surprised."

"Surprised?" Mitchel coughed as he set his shotgun down on his bed. "The hell are the police? Shouldn't they have took their weapons with them? Or at least set up a base there?" He started to get louder and louder with each sentence. "Sorry....It's been rough, I couldn't find Colton. I don't know where he is at."

Colton is Mitchel's younger brother. You wouldn't take Mitchel as the protective type of person but damn, he was. He was probably the most protective one there too start with. If Colton ever got into a fight, Mitchel was there. They stood by each other, like brothers should do.

"I'm sorry Mitchel." Garrett sighed as he walked over to the doors that led to the other parts of the school. He stands there and watches out the window for a few moments then he turns around and looks at Mitchel. He just stood there, like he was looking at the floor. But his eyes were telling a story, and Garrett could see that. "We'll find him bro." Mitchel then looks up at Garrett and forms a weak smile. He then walks back over to the corner with the others who appear to be eating breakfast now.

He turns his head and looks back outside the window. If you listened carefully he could hear the moans of the Walkers trying to get inside the school. It sounded like maybe there were 50 or so out there. 50 Walkers? Could that be true? Could this all be true? Or could it all just be a dream, like a terrible nightmare? He was going to survive though, that's all he wanted to do.

From behind him he can feel a small tap on his shoulder. He turns around and sees that it is Lucas. She has two bowls of some sort of food in her hand. "Here." She mentions to him as he grabs one of the bowls from her. "It's oatmeal. The Army type, it isn't the best but hey, you know?" She finishes her sentence by putting a spoon of her oatmeal into her mouth. "How is it out there?"

He isn't sure how to answer the question. It sure isn't like it was before all this. But he did make it here. So does that make it not that bad? Where did all the Walkers go? All the people in his town, they seemed to have just vanished. He only ran into a few Walkers on the way here. "It's different for sure."
