(Present Day)
The room is once again quiet, except for the typing of Agent Fields. Garrett waits for Fields to catch up as he studies him. His oval face pays more attention to the screen of his laptop then it does to Garrett.
Garrett coughs, getting the attention of Agent Fields. "When are you gonna un-cuff me from this chair?"
"Listen." Fields commanded as he puts the finishing touches into his writings. "As long as you don't do anything stupid." Fields gets up with a key in hand and walks over to Garrett. He puts the key in the key hole and twists it slightly, the hand cuff comes off of Garrett's wrist.
He was free, he could easily leave if he wanted too. He could easily kill Agent Fields as well. Should he? All he has to do is tell his story, that's not too bad. Fields does not seem to pose any threat. But still, Garrett watches him closer as Fields sits back down in his chair.
"Your friend, Mitchel. He seems to be the leader in your group, am i wrong?" Fields asks bringing out a notebook and a pen.
"Correct."
"He also seems to be hiding something." Fields commented as he puts the pen to his tongue to get it working. "What is he hiding?"
(Three Years Ago, Day 2)
It was the evening now. Adam, Kenny and Lucas have come back from checking the other stairways. Surprisingly everything seemed to be clear. A few Walkers had to be removed but it was nothing serious. All the doors are now shut and locked. Nothing can come in, nothing can come out. They are safe.
Inside room 213 the group has split into smaller groups as they sit in chairs, on desks and talk among-est themselves quietly.
“Well, it wasn’t pretty." Adam said talking with Garrett in one of the corners of the classroom. "I just finished up cleaning my car with Kelsey, I know, it was a little late to be washing my car but hey, you know?" Kelsey is Adam's girlfriend. She was a small quiet girl, they seemed to be the same people. They stayed out of the way from the crowds most of the time. "We were going inside, and my dad came down the stairs with his hunting rifle in his hand. He told us that we better stay inside with everyone else. So, naturally we did. We went into the kitchen where my mom had Becky in her arms crying. Before I asked what was wrong, I happened to look at the TV. It had a news reporter, with people eating people in the background, and then the reporter was attacked. Kelsey was shocked and jumped into my arms." Adam seemed to pause for a while. Like someone trying to find the words for what he is about to say. Then we heard shots ring out from downstairs, it was dad shooting. Next thing I know he ran up the stairs and told us all to get somewhere together and hide. We ran into the bathroom. Next, we heard the shots that Dad was firing, and then heard him scream. Becky was crying, and yelling. Then the Walkers started to break down the door. Mom was holding it back with all her might. She told me to open the window, so I did. Then she told me to crawl out the window and get on the roof so I could help Kelsey and Becky out……………I got out...... I turned back to grab Kelsey's hand, that's when I knew they were dead."
"Adam.....god man, I'm sorry." Garrett said putting a hand on his shoulder as he let out a soft cry.
Garrett didn't know what happened to his parents, they were in some other god forsaken country. Maybe it was better there. Maybe they weren't dead, they were still alive. Maybe it's better not knowing what happened to them, he didn't need to dwell on it, it just brought him down.
Shooting can be heard from outside, other people trying to defend themselves from the never ending herd of Walkers that are outside.
"We should do something." Rebecca burst-ed out. She was talking about the shooting outside.
