Dallas finally texted me back telling me to tell Bailey she's grounded, so I go find Bailey and tell her. Of course she's upset about it but she doesn't throw a fit.
"Hey Amanda can I go to bea's?" Maddie asks
"Is your homework done?" I ask
"Yeah" she says
"So if I go get your stuff right now and look at it all of your stuff will be done" I ask
"Yeah" Maddie says
"Alright you can go" I tell her
"Thank you" she says
Just as Maddie leaves, Dallas walks in. She's obviously not happy.
"Hey" she says
"Hey" I say "frustrated?"
"Very" Dallas sighs "Baileys birthday is tomorrow so I'm going to unground her for her party but I feel like it's defeating the purpose of being grounded"
"She knows she did wrong" I say "not being grounded for a couple hours won't effect her"
"I just don't understand why she did this, it's not like her" she sighs
"Bullies make you act without thinking sometimes" I state
"She's being bullied?" Dallas asks "Jesus I'm a terrible mother"
"No Dal, Bailey adores you" I say "when my mom said she's going to try and get her back she cried"
"Why didn't I know about all this" Dallas asks with tears in her eyes
"My guess is she probably wanted to protect you" I say
"This is all so backwards" she groans
"Don't worry about it" I say "everything will work out the way it's supposed to"
"Oh hey dal" Bailey says as she walks in
"Hey kiddo, ready to go home?" Dallas asks
"Not really but i guess I have to" Bailey says
"Anyway so we'll see you soon" Dallas says
"Bye guys" I say and hug them both
Dallas and Bailey head out so I go upstairs to see if Maddie actually did her homework. She left it sitting out on her desk with nothing but her name written on it.
"Hey kiddo whatcha doing?" Demi asks
"Oh hey I was just checking to see if Maddie did her homework" I tell her
"What happened?" Demi asks
"She came home and told me she got lunch detention for not doing her homework" I explain
"Where is she now?" Demi asks
"With Bea, I told her I'd let it slide but she had to do her homework" I say
"I'll go get her, you get back to your school work" she says
"Alright" I say
Of course Gracie starts crying when I try to get back to work, but to be fair it is her dinner time. After feeding her I lay her down on her play mat and work on chemistry. Demi and Maddie walk in soon after, neither of them looking very happy.
"Upstairs now" Demi demands. Maddie runs upstairs whereas Demi grabs a wooden spoon from the kitchen and goes upstairs.
I feel bad for Maddie, Demi is honestly going too hard on her. I'd say something but I don't want to get myself in trouble. About 10 minutes later Maddie comes downstairs and sits next to me. I pull her into a hug and let her cry.
"Amanda" she sniffles
"Yeah?" I say
"Next time don't let me get away with it" she mumbles
I hold onto her while I finish up some work then bring Gracie up for bed. Maddie and I call it a night, and Demi? Who knows.
