Adelaide Rosewood looked out of the window on the train that was heading to Hogwarts. She was not like the others on the train with her. She was a muggleborn that was accepted to a school of magic. She was a stranger to this new world she's entering.

The compartment door opens revealing a black haired boy with green eyes. "Um, hello, do you mind if I sit here?" he asks. Adelaide shakes her head, "No, I don't mind." The boy comes in and sits down across from her.

"So what's your name?" the boy asks. "Adelaide, Adelaide Rosewood," she softly replys back. Adelaide wasn't much of a talker. She also isn't very good with strangers and meeting new people, she prefers being alone sometimes. "What about yours?" Adelaide askes. "I'm Harry Potter," he said with a smile. She gives a small smile back.

The compartment door opens again, this time revealing a ginger haired boy. "Hey, may I sit here?" he asks. Harry looks up at the boy while Adelaide went back to looking out of the window. "Sure," Harry responds and the ginger haired boy sits by him.

"Let me introduce myself, I'm Ronald Weasley, but people call me Ron," the boy said. "I'm Harry Potter," Harry says and looks at Adelaide staring out the window, "and this is Adelaide Rosewood." Adelaide turns and gave a small nod.

"Have you seen a toad anywhere? A boy named Neville lost his toad," a girl with frizzy brown hair that appeared out of nowhere asked. "No, sorry," Harry tells her. "You're Harry Potter? Do you have a scar?" she asked after she took a look at him. Harry lifted his hair up exposing his lightning bolt-shaped scar.

"Wow, well my name is Hermonie Granger, and you are?" she asked Ron. "I'm Ron Weasley, pleasure to meet you," Ron said while eating his chocolates. "Pleasure," she responds back with a disgusted face. She then looks at Adelaide, "and you?" Adelaide looks at her, "Adelaide Rosewood."

The train reached Hogwarts and everyone was getting out. "Looks like we're here," Harry said. Harry and Ron got out of the compartment and Adelaide followed silently behind.

"Firs' years over here, firs' years over here!" A large man calls out once they get out of the train. Adelaide felt herself starting to get nervous due to the large crowd of students buzzing with chatter. As the large man continues calling out for the first years, Adelaide realized she has lost Harry and Ron.

She looks around and spots a group of nervous looking first years in line to get into the small wooden boats. Adelaide got in one of the boats that were closest to her. The boats began to move in the direction to the castle and to Adelaide's surprise, they were rowing themselves.

"Wow," Adelaide whispered to herself staring at the self-rowing oars. "Who are you?" a voice asked turning her direction away from the oars. Adelaide looks up and sees a boy with white blonde hair that was gelled back and cold grey eyes. "Adelaide Rosewood," she responds rather quiet. She felt was uncomfortable with the hard cold stare he had on her.

"Rosewood? I've never heard of you before," he said. "Don't tell me you're a mudblood," he said with a hint of venom in his voice. "A what?" Adelaide quietly asks. "A muggle, someone with muggle parents," he said still intensely looking at her. "Oh," Adelaide was afraid to say yes because of the way he was speaking about muggles. "Yes," she replies and looks away.

Before the boy could reply, someone else who was in the boat points out that they arrived. Adelaide was the first to get out and tried to distance herself from the boy as quickly as possible.

Once inside the castle, the elderly, strict woman that was leading the first year students, stopped in front of two large doors.

"Welcome to Hogwarts. In a few minutes you will be . escorted into the Great Halls and you shall be sorted into your houses," the woman announces. The first years started excitedly whispering to each other. "There are four houses... Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin," she continues, "While you are here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points and if any rule breaking happens, you will lose points. At the end of the year the house with the most points will be rewarded with the House Cup."
