A new year awaits Adelaide and she is not excited at all. All summer, Draco has been on her mind a lot and it bothered her. She couldn't understand it, but she felt something for him. She spent many restless nights staring at the ceiling regretting cutting her friendship off with him, but she knew she had to.
Adelaide boarded the train looking for an empty compartment as usual. Unfortunately, all the compartments were full, so she asked Harry if she could sit with them. Harry agreed and made room for her to sit next to him.
"How'd you summer go Adelaide?" Harry asked breaking the silence that grew ever since she entered the compartment. "Fine," she responded. She looked up and saw a man with a coat covering him in the corner of the compartment.
"Who's him?" she whispered. "Professor R.J. Lupin," Hermione responded. "You know everything," Ron said, "How is it she knows everything?" Hermione rolled her eyes, "I do not know everything and his name is on his case."
"Is he really asleep?" Harry asked. Hermione nodded, "Why?" Harry got up and closed the compartment door. Hermione and Ron glanced at Harry curiously. Adelaide paid no attention to what they were talking about, her mind wanders to the one boy that's been on her mind all summer.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when the compartment started rattling and the lights started to flicker. The train started to slow down until it came to a stop. "What's going on?" Ron asks in fear. Everything was dark. The lights stopped working and it was cold, very cold.
"Ouch Ron! That was my foot!" Hermione yelped. Adelaide was scared, but she hides it well. "Guys.. there's something moving out there," Ron quivered. "What's that?" Adelaide breathed out as she as a floating black figure from the window of the compartment door. The door opened half way and the air was ice cold.
The black cloaked figure attacked Harry as Adelaide watched in horror. She didn't know what to do as she watched the poor boy sitting next to her getting his soul sucked out of him. Adelaide felt herself getting a bit drowsy as her eyesight starting blurring. She felt like her energy draining and couldn't keep her eyes open for much longer.
"Harry! Are you alright?" Hermione asked worriedly as Harry woke back up. Professor Lu[in gave him a piece of chocolate as Ron gave Harry his glasses back. "Eat chocolate , it'll help," Lupin told Harry before he left the compartment.
"What was that?" Harry asks still shocked by what happened. "A dementor," Lupin replied, "One of the guards of Azkaban searching for Sirius Black, but don't worry, it's gone now." Harry nodded and turned to look at Adelaide who was pale and still asleep.
"Did she get attacked too?" he softly asks as he looks at her. "No, she just seemed to have passed out," Hermione said. Harry nodded as he lifted his hand a carefully moved some of her hair out of her face.
"Harry..." Ron started. "Do you fancy Adelaide or something?" Harry looked up, "What?" "Do you like her? We've noticed that you've been glancing at her alot since our first year and Ron told me that you defended her as well." Hermione commented. Harry didn't answer and looked back down at Adelaide. "I'd be careful around her Harry," Hermione quietly added.
"Did either of you pass out?" Harry asked avoiding what Hermione said as he looked back up at Ron and Hermione, who frowned and shook their heads no. "I heard someone screaming, a woman," Harry said. Hermione and Ron glanced at each other.
"No one was screaming Harry," Hermione said and that was the last thing anyone said as they all waited to arrive at Hogwarts.
