The next morning, the three students stood in front of Professor Dumbledore's desk, looking down, waiting for him to say something.
"You three realize that in the past few hours, you have broken perhaps a dozen school rules?" he finally speaks up. "Yes sir," They all reply. "And there is sufficient evidence to have you three expelled." "Yes sir."
"Therefore, it is only fitting that you three receive Special Awards for Services to the school," Dumbledore said, causing the three to lift their heads up, looking at him. "Thank you sir!" Adelaide exclaimed with a big smile.
Dumbledore looked at Ron. "Mr. Weasley, if you would have an owl deliver these release papers to Azkaban? I believe we want our gamekeeper back," he handed Ron an envelope, and Ron turned around leaving.
He then turned to Harry and Adelaide, "I can sense that something is troubling the two of you, am I right?" Harry and Adelaide looked at eachother. Harry nodded at her to say what she wanted to say.
Adelaide fiddled with her skirt, "Well you see, I've been wondering for quite some time now on why I was sorted in Slytherin." Dumbledore looks at her. "It's just I heard I'm the first muggle to be sorted in Slytherin an-" "And you think the Sorting Hat made a mistake?" Dumbledore finished for her. Adelaide nodded.
"The Sorting Hat is never wrong Miss Rosewood, you were sorted in Slytherin for a reason," Dumbledore tells her. "What's that reason Professor?" Adelaide questioned. "You'll find that out eventually," he gave her a soft smile.
He then turned to Harry. "Professor, I couldn't help but notice certain similarities between Tom Riddle and me," Harry speaks up. "I see, well, you can speak Parseltongue Harry. Why?" he paused looking at Harry. Harry says nothing. "Because Lord Voldemort can speak Parseltongue. If I'm not mistaken Harry, he transferred some of his powers to you the night he gave you that scar."
Harry's eyes widened, "Voldemort transferred some of his powers to me?" Dumbledore nodded, "Yes, but not intentionally of course." "So the Sorting Hat was right! I should be in Slytherin!" Harry exclaimed. "It's true Harry. You possess many of the qualities that Voldemort himself prizes. Determination, resourcefulness, and if I may say so, a certain disregard for the rules," He gave Harry a teasing look.
"Why then did the Sorting Hat place you in Gryffindor?" he asked Harry. "Because I asked it to," Harry replies. "Exactly Harry! Which makes you different from Voldemort," he exclaimed, "It is not our abilities that show what we truly are, it's our choices. If you want proof why you belong in Gryffindor, then I suggest that you look more closely at this," Dumbledore hands him the bloodstained sword, with a ruby handle.
"Godric Gryffindor," Harry read out loud. "It would take a true Gryffindor to pull that out of the hat," Dumbledore comments.
Suddenly the door burst open, turning their attention to the door. Lucius Malfoy comes marching in, with a small creature following behind him.
"Dobby?! So this is your master! The family you serve is the Malfoys!" Harry exclaimed. Dobby looked up at Lucius and hides behind him. "I'll deal with you later," he sneers at Dobby and continues marching forward towards them.
"Out of my way," Lucuis saids and pushes the two to the side. "So it's true then, you've returned!" Lucuis turns to Dumbledore. "When the governors learned the Arthur Weasely's daughter, they saw fit to summons me back," Dumbledore said, giving Lucuis a smile. "Curiously, several of them seemed to be under the impression that you would curse their families if they didn't agree to suspend me in the first place," he added.
"How dare you?!" Lucuis gasped in disbelief. "I beg your pardon?" Dumbledore asked innocently. "My sole concern has always been, and will always be, the welfare of this school and, of course, it's students," Lucius said as glances at Harry and Adelaide.
"The culprit has been identified I presume?" Lucuis asks. "Oh yes," Dumbledore replies. "And? Who was it?" Lucius asks impatiently. Dumbledore turns to look at Harry before he responds. "Voldemort."
"Ah!" Lucius exclims. "Only this time, he chose to act through somebody else," Dumbledore adds. "By means of this," he lifts up the black diary. "I see," Lucius said. "Fortunately, our young Mr. Potter, discovered it. One hopes that no more of Lord Voldemort's old school things should find their way into innocent hands. The consequences for the one responsible would be severe," Dumbledore gave him a look.
Lucuis turned and glared into Harry's eyes, "Well let us hope that Mr. Potter will always be around to save the day." Harry glares back, "Don't worry, I will be."
Lucuis looks at Dumbledore and turns back around heading towards the exit. "Come Dobby, we're leaving," Lucuis kicked Dobby as Adelaide gasped and winced at the sight.
"Professor, I wonder if I could have that," Harry asked looking at the diary. Dumbledore nodded and Harry grabbed the book, running towards Lucius.
"Mr. Malfoy! Mr. Malfoy!" Harry calls out for him as Adelaide tries to catch up. "I have something of yours." Lucius stops and turns around. "Mine? I don't know what you're talking about." Harry shakes his head, "Oh I think you do sir, I think you slipped the diary into Ginny Weasley's cauldron that day at Diagon Alley."
Harry hands him the book and Lucius grabs it before throwing it to the house elf. "You do, do you? Why don't you prove it?" Lucius starts walking away.
Harry looks down at Dobby. "Open it," he whispers. Dobby looked at the diary and opened it, revealing at black sock. "Come Dobby!" Lucius yelled. "Master has presented Dobby with clothes! Dobby is free!" Dobby exclaimed with joy.
Lucuis stopped and turned around, "What are you talk-" He looked at the opened diary and down at Harry's ankle. "You've lost me my servant!" Lucuis yells outraged as he lifts his wand. "Advada-" Dobby then jumps in front of Harry and Adelaide and sent Lucuis backwards. "You shall not harm Harry Potter!" Dobby yelled.
Lucuis was in shock but quickly stands up and glares at the three. He looks at Harry. "Your parents were meddlesome fools. You make my words Potter, one day soon you are going to meet the same sticky end!" Lucius snapped. "And you," he turned to Adelaide sending her an icy threatening glare, "Stay away from my son, you filthy mudblood."
Adelaide widened her eyes. "What? Didn't think I would've found out?" He grinned at her shocked face. "Draco tells me everything, and oddly he was talking a lot about you." Adelaide didn't know what to say. She opened her mouth, but no words came out. Lucuis gave them one last glare before he turned to leave.
"Harry Potter freed Dobby!" Dobby cheered after his previous master left. "How can Dobby ever repay him?" Harry looked down at him, "Just promise me something." "Anything sir," Dobby replied. "Never try to save me life again," Harry told him and Dobby nodded in agreement.
Harry looked up at Adelaide, who was looking at the floor ever since Lucius left. "Yeah, of course!" Adelaide forced a smile on her face hoping he wouldn't notice and fortunately for her, he didn't. She had to leave Draco sooner than she had planned to do. She didn't want leave his side, but she knew she had to. It was for the best.
