I walk into the cafeteria and slide into my seat across from Layla.
I look her in the eye as I say, "I have an idea."
"Yeah?" she says, unwrapping her sandwich.
"Yes. I have an idea regarding the encounter I had last Friday."
Layla looks up from unwrapping her sandwich, "Oh?"
I smile, glad to see I now have her attention, "So, remember how you were coming over to my house last Tuesday? At five?"
"Yes?"
"Also, I told my parents I would be back home around five on Friday."
"Okay..."
"When I was about to follow the mystery man, you told me it was almost five."
"Yeah..."
"Therefore, I have concluded that the meetings between mystery man and odd accent guy usually occur around 4:30 p.m." I finish triumphantly.
"Oh! Okay," Layla nods.
"Now, this is where my plan comes in," I begin once more.
"Plan?"
"Yes, my plan. My encounters with these people were on Tuesday and Friday."
"That is correct."
"And... today is Tuesday."
"That is also correct."
"So, my plan," I pause for dramatic effect, "Is to go back to the alley tonight. Hopefully, they decided to meet up on Tuesday again. Then, I will follow mystery man. Hopefully, he will lead me to either his house or some lair of his."
"Okay... That sounds pretty solid! Except, what if they don't meet up tonight? What if they meet up on random days?"
I shrug, beginning to open my lunch, "Then I will go to the alley every day until they come."
