I hop through the window and land quietly on my bedroom floor. With a relieved sigh I pull off my mask before plopping onto the bed.

Although I am disappointed about the unknown whereabouts of the weapon smugglers, it is nice not getting into some dramatic superhero battle tonight.

I hear footsteps in the hallway while I close my eyes and take a deep breath. The footsteps continue getting closer, as I open one eye cautiously. Please don't be coming to my r-

"Crystal?" Mom's voice calls out.

I jolt into an upright position, panic setting in as the door begins to creak open. "Mom! Wait!" I exclaim, standing up abruptly, attempting to get to the door before it opens. I fail miserably, falling flat on my face, "Ow..."

My Spidey Sense proceeds to make my entire body tingle as I stand up from that epic fail.

I bite my lip nervously as I look to the doorway. My heart sinks as I look at my mom, standing in the doorway, gaping at me.

"H-hi, Mom," I say nervously, adding in an awkward little wave.

"C-Crystal... You're... What?!" Mom says, coming out of her shock.

"I know it's crazy, but-" I begin desperately.

Mom cuts me off, grabbing my wrist and dragging me along behind her. We walk down the stairs, not stopping until we reach the living room. Sitting on the couch is my dad, while Bethany is laying on the floor, reading a book. She looks up when we approach, eyes widening excitedly when she sees me.

I smile slightly, glad to see at least one person is happy about this development.

"Our daughter is Spider-Girl!" Mom exclaims.

Obviously.

Dad looks up, finally noticing us standing in the doorway. He fully processes what Mom said once his attention focuses on me.

I give him another awkward little wave.

He stands up, eyes widening, full of shock and... disappointment? Uh-oh.

"H-hi, Dad..." I say quietly.

He stares at me for a second, "You... You're Spider-Girl?!"

I look at my feet, "Yeah..."

"What do you think you are doing?! You could get hurt! Why are you trying to pull such an elaborate prank?!" he exclaims.

I snap to attention. He seriously still thinks this is all a prank?! "For the last time, none of this is a prank! This," I hop onto the wall, crawling onto the ceiling, where I decide to take my stance standing upside down, "is real! Me helping people, saving lives, is real! None of this is a prank for public attention! It's all real!"

Dad seems taken aback slightly by me standing on the ceiling. "Get down from the ceiling, young lady! See how weird that is?! Telling you to stop standing on the ceiling! There is nothing right about this situation! So maybe it isn't a prank - I see that now, but none of this should be happening! I don't care if you have powers, I am not having my daughter getting injured by using powers caused by some freak accident!" he shouts.

I reluctantly flip from the ceiling, landing perfectly on the ground. Tears begin to pool in my eyes. "Have you learned nothing from Spider-Man? It is important for me to use these powers to help people! I don't want bad things to happen when I could be doing something about it! Unlike in Spider-Man's universe, I'm the only superhero this world has! I have been granted these powers, now I need to use them!" I yell back.

"Unacceptable! You are far too young to be doing this type of thing!"

"Spider-Man did it!"

"SPIDER-MAN ISN'T REAL!"

"Well, I think I have clearly proven that it would very well be possible for him to exist. Technically, he does! I AM the real Spider-Man!"

Dad inhales a deep breath. "I will not allow this. You are to take off that suit and put it away," he says in a deep, serious voice.

"Dad... Please!" I whisper desperately. I turn to my mom, tears beginning to trickle down my cheek, "Mom?"

Mom looks at me sympathetically, but doesn't say anything.

I swallow, a huge lump forming in my throat. I run out of the room, tears falling steadily now, not stopping until I am safely in my bedroom.

I take off the suit and pull on my pajamas, before sadly placing the suit back in its spot in the back of my closet.

I quickly grab my phone, sobbing as I press on the contact I wish to call.

"Hello?"

"Layla?" I whisper, trying to hold back a sob, "They found out. My family knows about Spider-Girl."

Duh duh duh!! A bit of a cliff hanger, I know. We shall see what Crystal will do now. 0_0
