"And... Done!" I proclaim as I write the answer to the last equation on my math worksheet.
I sigh in relief as I put my homework in my backpack. I scan the desk for anything I may have forgotten to prepare for school tomorrow.
I focus on a small piece of paper - the permission slip. I reach for it and read the whole thing.
Permission Slip - Field Trip to Florfield Insect and Arachnid Museum
Friday; bus leaves at 10:00 a.m.
Bring a lunch, backpack, camera (if you would like), wear appropriate school clothing
DO NOT forget this permission slip
I then look to the bottom of the slip, my eyes resting on my mom's sloppy signature. I fold the paper and slip it into a pocket of my backpack.
*Ding*
My phone lights up, and I reach for it quickly, realizing it is a message from Layla
Layla: Hey, C! You excited for the trip
Crystal: Yeah, I guess. It doesn't seem THAT interesting, though
Layla: Really? I think it will be cool to see so many different types of spiders.
Crystal: Eh...
Crystal: Who knows? Maybe there will be a radioactive one on the loose! XD
Layla: lol
I look up from my phone, smiling at the poster on my bedroom wall. I'm kind of a huge Spider-Man fan. I like the fact that he is a teenager, it just makes him seem more real to me, and his powers are pretty cool.
*Ding*
I quickly read the new message, smiling even more. Fortunately, my best friend is also a fan.
Layla: Speaking of radioactive spiders, wanna see the new movie together next week?
Crystal: You bet!
Layla: Okay then! See you @ school!
Crystal: See ya later!
