"We did it!" I exclaim, initiating a high five from Layla.

"Technically, you did it," Layla says.

"No... It was your idea to look on the outskirts of the city," I reply.

"Yeah, well, you're the one who almost got shot."

"Okay, fine. I did a decent amount of work, but you should get some credit too!" I whisper, looking at the front door anxiously.

"Sure. Well, see you soon, Crystal!" Layla waves as she starts down the driveway.

I wave back before quietly opening the door to my house. I calmly stroll past my dad, who is watching TV. "Hi, Dad. I'm back!" I say casually.

"I hope you got a lot of studying in!" he replies with a smile.

"Yep, sure did!" I manage to say.

"I'm here on the outskirts of the city, where a band of weapon smugglers were apprehended by our very own hero, Spider-Girl!"

I freeze halfway up the stairs.

"What we can gather from the note she left for the police is that these men were buying illegally built weapons that they were planning to use to attack another country. Thank you, Spider-Girl!"

Beads of sweat form on my forehead as my dad turns around to face me.

"About that..." I begin nervously.

"Is this what you were doing while you were 'studying'?" Dad asks seriously.

"Yes," I admit, looking at the floor.

"Crystal, why do you keep doing this?!"

"I'm sorry, Dad," I sigh, "I just can't help it! I knew those smugglers were up to something and I had to stop them once and for all! I have the power to help people! I don't want to waste it!"

Dad seems deep in thought. I shift uncomfortably on my feet, waiting for him to speak.

"I'm just concerned for you, Crystal," he begins, "I don't want you to get hurt. But I see now that you are an asset to the city... Just promise me you'll be careful."

"I promise, Dad!" I confirm, giving him a hug, "Thank you!"
