Chapter Ten

I'm in a blank, colorless, room. I pace around the room repeatedly. The strange thing is that I am walking from the ground, to the wall, to the ceiling, to the other wall, and back to the ground. And although I don't see anything, I always step on something soft and cushy before I step back onto the wall. I continue to do this for what seems like ages.

Finally, I begin to come to my senses; it begins to get brighter, I can feel the texture of the surfaces under my feet, and a bit of noise reaches my ear.

I stop pacing and stand in the middle of the ceiling.

I open my eyes. Wow, what a crazy dream.

That's when I look around...

"What?!" I screech, as I fall from the ceiling.

I land on the floor of my bedroom with a large thump.

What is going on? Why was I on the ceiling? And most importantly - how did I not break any bones during that fall?

I pale slightly as my memory returns.

It all makes sense. First the spider bite... then feeling sick... enhanced senses... muscles... insanely quick reactions...

I stand up, grab my laptop, and log onto the Florfield Museum website. I click on the research files section and scan for any reports on the spider. I quickly click on a file.

There is still much to learn about this arachnid specimen. It has not been studied for long, but traces of radioactivity have been found. It is unknown how this came about. Perhaps the spider was born near an unsanitary water source, or maybe it was tested on...

I quickly shut my laptop, barely believing that I actually just read that.

Well, if I hadn't woken up on the ceiling, I would possibly still deny it, but there is no other way to explain it.

I was bit by a radioactive spider.

I have spider powers.

I am the real life Spider-Man.
