"What the hell have I woken up to?" Dean asked.
He had already been here for a night and day and yet he hated it already. The humans were constantly coming and going from the room. Sometimes it was to feed them or clean the room/cages. Sometimes it was to check on them. On some rare occasions, they came to play with them and even take them away. He had already bit one human, scarred another enough to flee the room, and got in one or two...or three fights with the other dogs. Even in his weakened state, he was going to assert his dominance. He had already claimed the bigger cage, cleaner water, and bigger food bowl. When they were lead outside to play, he claimed the better/shadier part of the yard and climbed the better/newer chew toys. Besides the times when he was being fed or lead outside, or the few times where he needed to assert his dominance...Dean rarely interacted with anyone or the other pups of the room. In his mind, he didn't want or need anyone besides himself. Unknown to him, this mindest of his was about to do a 180 real quick!
"Come on boys! You're going to make so many new friends and then, if you're good and lucky, you'll get adopted into a wonderful and loving family!" The female human caretaker stated as she walked two new pups into the room. There she placed them in the only two free cages left...directly across from Dean's cage. "Alright, boys. I need you guys to behave and get some good rest now!" She stated as she did one last check of the room before leaving. Dean let out a gruff huff, "Well well boys and girls, it looks like we got some fresh meat around here!" Dean shouted out into the room to which a loud cacophony of barks was heard in return. "Sleep tight fresh mat...You'll need it." Dean stated giving them both a sharp pup smirk before shutting his eyes and turning his back to them to catch some Zs for the night.
