"Where do you think he's taking you?" Jade asked me as she pulled outfits out of my closet.
"He has told me nothing!" I almost shouted, turning away from my mirror to face her.
"Well it's still so warm today, I think a dress is needed. You can wear your converse with it to be casual and take some heels incase it's fancy?" She raised her eyebrow at me.
I bit my lip and nodded yes.
I was so nervous, I had no idea why.
I'd known Tom three years, we'd been dating? In a relationship? Seeing each other? For two months, I shouldn't have been nervous, but I was.
I turned back to the mirror and tried to finish my make-up, Jade had already done my hair for me, she'd dyed the ends a dark purple so it blended well with my natural black and she'd curled it for me.
She threw a dress on my bed, obviously deciding that was the one.
I hadn't worn a dress in a long time, I loved to try them on and buy them and loved the way I felt in the changing rooms, but I just never got the chance to wear any.
Jade wore dresses a lot, she did her make-up and hair almost everyday and she'd always looked like an elegant fairy princess.
My look was more 'clearly woke up and threw whatever I could find on the floor on'
"Ok I think I'm done." I turned around for Jade to check.
She beamed at me, "You look stunning Lily. And not in a 'you're my friend so I have to say that' way like actually stunning." I couldn't help smiling back at her.
I couldn't deny I felt beautiful, my make-up wasn't subtile, Jade had made sure I'd chosen dramatic colours for my eyeshadow and winged my eyeliner, she'd even done my eyebrows for me. "Thanks."
"Ok now get dressed because you have like ten minutes." She waved her arms in my direction.
"Shit." I gasped and jumped up from my chair.
I pulled my pyjama t-shirt off and slipped the dress over my head in its place, it was a black laced skater dress, thin straps that I felt were going to snap any second, it fell to my mid thigh and tucked in at the waist making me look much curvier than I normally felt in baggy t-shirts and jeans.
I slipped my black and white converse on my feet and spun around dramatically for Jade, who laughed along with me.
"Damn you're hot." Jade winked at me.
"You're pregannt with Drew's baby, calm down." I joked and grabbed my purse from my bedside table.
Butterflies battled in my stomach as I quietly knocked on Tom's door and walked in.
He was grabbing his car keys from his desk and when I entered he turned to face me.
"Holy fuck." His eyes went wide and he gulped loudly.
Heat rose to my cheeks and I looked down at the floor, his reaction sending a flutter through me.
I hung my legs out the car window, laying back on the seat. The unseasonable warm weather had me in a good mood, it helped that I'd just had the most amazing date with Tom.
He'd taken me to the lake to watch the whales, something he knew I adored doing.
We'd been so many times, but never just me and him.
