Waking up hurt, I was confused and in a whole lot of pain.
I was uncomfortable, I moved my head up, before stopping quickly, it came into contact with tree bark.
I blinked my eyes open and looked around, Malik was stood a few feet away from me, he wasn't paying me any attention, he looked like he was on the phone to someone.
I couldn't see Lindsay anywhere.
I tried to move my hand to rub my head, when I couldn't move it I looked down.
I was tied to a tree, my arms tied behind me, my legs secured with thick rope, my shoulders and neck pinned in place with the same thick rope.
Oh my god.
My breathing picked up again, I started to struggle against the restraints.
Malik noticed me, turned around and gave me an evil sneer.
"Oh finally, you're awake." He growled. "Is anyone here with us?" He asked, looking around with curious eyes.
When I didn't answer he turned to glare at me, I shook my head no, not trusting my voice. I was going to cry.
"I would have started already but you have to be conscious for this." He shrugged his shoulder slightly, as if that would explain everything to me.
"Why are you doing this, I haven't done anything to you." I asked, my voice shaky and panicked.
"Because Lillian, I need what you have. I need to be able to talk to the dead. My reasons are my own. I used to have many followers, loyal and willing, waiting for me to gain your gifts, the power you possess, but as the years grew on and your parents kept hindering my efforts, they grew weary, didn't think I'd be able to do it. But I knew I could, I just had to wait." He sneered at me, walking closer to where I was tied to the tree.
Just like how my parents were found. Fuck.
"I can't talk to the dead, I don't have any of these gifts you keep talking about. I'm just a normal girl." I struggled against the ropes, tears running down my face.
"You see, you have one of the most extraordinary gifts given to a human being and you don't even know how to use it. Your parents kept it from you, all this time you could have been practicing, you could see beyond The Veil by now. But you're stuck, unknowing." He walked back and forth in front of me, not looking at me, looking around, as if he expected somebody to appear. "It's rare for a witch to be birthed on all hallows eve, and when your mother gave birth to you, I knew you'd be powerful, I had no idea how powerful. Only five or six people exist with the powers that you have. It wasn't until you were four that they started to notice, they saw you talking to people that weren't there, describing them with uncanny details and accuracy, they didn't know, so your mother rang me, and I knew immediately. You see I wasn't as desperate for your gifts then, so I told her, I told her what you were. They acted without telling me, they performed the spell to dampen your powers." He stopped talking when I screamed as loud as I could.
I was screaming in anger, he wasn't making sense and I was about to be killed for some shit that wasn't even real.
Where was Lindsay?
"If I have all these powers and I'm so special why can't I see my parents? From the second I found out they were gone all I've wanted is to talk to them, see them again. So explain that, if I'm this all powerful witch why can't I see them?" I asked, still shouting at him.
"They passed over Lillian, they aren't in The Veil." He explained, bored.
I shook my head furiously again, the tears making my face colder.
