"Warbler Blaine, you had something to say?"
Blaine stood up. "I'm sure I'm not the only person who heard someone singing How To Save A Life by The Fray this weekend?" People murmured their agreement, that they had heard it too. "We need them on the Warblers."
"I'm sorry, someone was singing How To Save A Life?" Jeff asked, as if he couldn't believe it. "They- they weren't playing it on piano as well, were they?"
"You know who it is!" Blaine said excitedly.
Jeff shook his head, sitting back in his seat. "Never mind. It has to be a coincidence."
"I recorded it," a boy spoke up, holding up his phone. No one could say anything before he started playing it.
Let him know that you know best

Try to slip past his defense

Lay down a list of what is wrong

Jeff's eyes were wider than they'd ever been and the boy stopped the recording. "Who is it?"
Not saying anything, Jeff pulled out his own phone. They could hear music begin to play.
The entire song, the exact same person singing, was recorded. Except it didn't stop at the end.

There was giggling, and the sound of a thwump, of a pillow being thrown at someone. "Don't laugh at me, I told you I wasn't any good!"
"That's why I'm laughing!" It was Jeff. "Because you're so good!"
"Yeah, as if. Wait- Jeffrey Anthony Sterling, you are not recording this!"
There was more laughter.
"Give it to me- give it to me-"
"Absolutely not!"
"Give it-"
The recording ended. There was a silence.
Blaine was the one to finally say it.
"That's Nick."
"Yeah, one problem, Nick hasn't spoken in years," one of the boys said.
"In public," Jeff corrected. "He has, just not in public. I- I didn't think he'd ever sing again," he admitted softly.
His eyes were full of hope, the others practically able to see his heart lighten.
Nick was back.
