"Look, Sebastian, can we talk?"

Sebastian looked confused. "Of course we can talk. What's going on?"

Hunter sat down beside him on the bed. "Something's wrong. I know you can feel it too. It's just... I feel like neither of us are being completely honest with the other."

He didn't say anything, so Hunter kept talking. "I had a one night stand over the summer. I was drunk, she took me back to her place... You know the rest."

"I'm a gold-star gay, Hunter," Sebastian teased, "I'm afraid I don't know the rest."

He laughed. "Well, you get what I mean. Protection was used, don't worry, I don't become an idiot when I'm drunk."

"Well, I'd rather some stranger wasn't carrying your child while we're together," he joked. Something about it was forced.

"What's wrong, Bas?" Hunter asked softly.

He shook his head. "What are we, Hunt? We fuck, we don't kiss. We have pet names, but only call each other by our last names in public. Nobody knows that something's going on between us, and I don't know what that something is."

"An open relationship?" Hunter suggested, thinking. "I guess I don't know if there's a term for it. Why do you ask?"

"It's not a relationship, we don't kiss and we don't... We don't have sex, not really, we just fuck. There's no love, no romance. I'm asking because I'm confused, and I..."

"You what?"

He sighed, speaking softly. "This isn't what I want, Hunter. I want a relationship. A boyfriend. Someone who I can kiss, who I can love."

They were quiet.

"Okay." He looked up at Sebastian. "I can't be that person for you, Bas. As much as I want to, I just can't confine myself to one person. Commitment issues, I guess. But I want you to be happy."

"Hunt." Sebastian took his hands. "You do not have commitment issues. You- you are perfectly committed to us, and don't you dare give me some bullshit about it being an open relationship so there's no commitment. You don't have issues just because you don't want a romantic relationship."

Hunter smiled softly. "You always know what to say."

"That's because I'm always right," he said, making him laugh. "And I'll still be here for you, knowing the right things to say."

"Will you give me one more night before we just go back to friends?"

He nodded. "One more night."
