"Nick, is something wrong?"
"What? No. Why do you ask?"
He sighed. "Because I didn't want to start off with 'Nick, tell me what's bothering you.' I know something is, just tell me."
"What's wrong with me is what's wrong with you. You've been acting off, ever since- well, ever since you asked me how I'd react if one of our friends came out as nonbinary."
Jeff paused. "I never used the term nonbinary."
"But we both know that's what you meant."
"Wait-" Jeff turned to him- "you know?"
Nick sighed. "Yeah, Jeff, I know."
"What am I supposed to do?" he asked desperately. "How have you not told anyone?"
"Because it's not my news to tell people. I can't tell you what you're supposed to do, Jeff. Only you can."
"I don't know. I don't want to be that person, I don't want h-them to hate me-"
"Jeff," Nick cut him off, "nobody could hate you. Never. No matter what."
"You're sure?" he asked hopefully.
"Of course I'm sure."
Jeff nodded. "Then I'm gonna talk to them about it."
