I'm sorry to interrupt my regularly scheduled programming but I suddenly realized I didn't write this as an introduction... my bad.

My Dark Elves are inspired by Warhammer Druchii, you've probably noticed, haven't you? Okay, let me elaborate. See the picture above? That's a Warhammer miniature to play a wargame, basically. The playing area is a tabletop model of a battlefield, players take turns to move their model warriors around the battlefield and pretend that they are fighting the other player's warriors. These imaginary fights are resolved using dice and simple arithmetic. I used to play when I was a teenager, yes, I was that kind of nerd who spent a lot of money on this very expensive hobby.

Players are expected to assemble and paint the miniatures themselves, it takes a lot of time and effort, and mines never looked professional like other people's amazing figurines... there're some wonderful artists who paint jaw dropping gorgeous miniatures like the one on the pic. Each miniature model represents an individual warrior and in the rulebooks, there is an entry for every type of model in the game that describes its capabilities. That lady is Morathi, Queen of the Darl Elves, High Priestess of the God of Chaos and also first and most powerful of the God of War Brides, always thirsty for power and the most beautiful creature that has ever lived in the whole world. And pretty much a complete bitch.

Anyway, I stopped buying miniatures and playing because I didn't have time, they're expensive and things changed in the game for worst. Warhammer focused ont their Space Marine Chapter update and wanted to get rid of the old fantasy world so they destroyed it in a very disappointing way. I don't like the new one. In addition to this, there was a problem with the Witch King, the son of Morathi, that Warhammer named Malekith without taking into account that Marvel Comics had already a character name like that... and they filed a lawsuit against them... it was a mess.

So this is the way dark elves look to me, the way illustrator Dave Gallagher imagined them for the old rulebooks. There's also an online game... it doesn't look bad but I get the impression they have softened, sweetened, turned the old bloody assassins into something suitable for this politically correct world... but I still love the old Druchii even if they make my skin crawl... and beautiful Queen Morathi never wore a stupid bra in the old ones as you can see here:
