12th of February 2016
'This place is absolutely insane!' I whispered, slightly too loudly to Luke whilst we were receiving a tour of Cambridge University, the first of many college and university tours for the month of February.
We were currently in the Maths and Science faculty building, which was right in my element.
'I think I want to go here,' Luke stated, admiring all the beautiful architecture around us.
'We haven't even been anywhere else yet,' I laughed and Luke shook his head like there was no other option for him. We still had to visit Oxford tomorrow morning and then the University of London on Sunday morning, the day after our athletics meet.
'You know when something just feels right?' Luke asked me softly as we walked into an empty seminar room, our tour guide, whose name is Benjamin, explaining about what seminars are like at university.
'Yeah,' I said, having that feeling with Luke all the time.
'Being here just feels so right, like I'm not supposed to be anywhere else,' Luke said and I nodded with a smile, because I had felt that way about Cambridge since the first time I visited with my Mum when I was twelve.
Sure I applied to other university's but I knew that in my heart I always wanted to go to Cambridge. Both my parents went here together and in a way, I think it will make me feel closer to my Mum maybe.
We spent the rest of the tour following Benjamin around, along with the rest of the people in our year level who applied for Cambridge was well, which really was many of us.
The rest of our friendship group was flying over tomorrow morning to go on the Oxford tour and then compete on Saturday morning, before touring the University of London with us on Sunday morning.
'So what did you guys think?' Benjamin asked Luke and me.
'Of Cambridge? I love it here, it's so beautiful,' I said with a smile, Luke nodding in agreement.
'What have you two applied for?' Benjamin asked as we walked towards the main campus building, as we had to call an Uber from there to take us back to the train and then train back into London to the hotel that we are staying at.
'I applied for a double degree in English Literature and Politics,' Luke said with a smile, his eyes lighting up whenever he spoke about what he wanted to do after school.
'Just Medicine,' I said softly and Benjamin leg out a warm laugh.
'Just Medicine she says like it's no big deal,' he added after his laugh and I just rolled my eyes at him.
'I've wanted to be a doctor since before I can even remember, it doesn't seem like that much of a big deal to me.'
'Cambridge medicine is a huge deal, you would have to be the best of the best if you get in, when do you find out?' Benjamin asked, Luke intertwining his fingers with mine as we reached the main campus building.
'A month today is when we hear back from all of the places we have applied for, then we have a lot of decisions to make,' Luke said and I nodded in agreement, quickly ordering an Uber off my phone before it became too late and the trains got way too busy for us to navigate.
'Well I wish you two all the best,' Benjamin said with a genuine smile. 'Hopefully I will see you two in the not so distant future!'
'Thank you for all your help today Benjamin,' I said sincerely, Luke saying his goodbyes as our Uber pulled up and took us to the train station.
'He was so into you,' Luke huffed as we sat down on the train together, an iced coffee in Luke's hand and a chai latte in my own from the Starbucks in the train station.
'Who? Benjamin?' I scoffed as the train began to move, beginning the two hour trip back to London.
'Yes! He was flirting with you every chance that he got!'
'Asking me what I applied to study for and wishing BOTH of us luck, is not flirting Luke Hemmings,' I stated firmly, Luke shaking his head so hard that his neat blonde hair was now an absolute mess.
'You have a point there but he was eyeing you up and down every thirty seconds,' Luke said and I just sighed, as I did not even notice nor did I care, because I had Luke.
'Luke it doesn't even matter what he was doing, because you are my boyfriend and I like you. Not Benjamin and not anybody else. Only you.'
'Okay good, that's what I thought,' Luke laughed, placing a hand on my thigh and giving it a gentle squeeze.
'So Cambridge?' I asked and Luke nodded, his words after my question taking me competently by surprise.
'Do you want to live together?' Luke asked out of absolutely nowhere, almost making me choke on the latte that was in my mouth.
Luke's family has a house in Cambridge, as well as London, as his eldest brother, Ben, studied there and did not want to live on campus, which I guess is fair enough. If your parents can afford a house for you, why not?
'This is not the way you ask someone to move in with them after dating for like a month,' I laughed and Luke just rolled his eyes at me, because he knew that I was going to say yes anyway.
'Piss off Annabelle,' he laughed. 'We are living together for the next however many years and that's final.'
'What if we break up?' I asked, semi serious, as it was a real possibility, even though neither of us wanted it to be.
'Annabelle Carrington, your father is a billionaire, I'm sure he would buy you an apartment, or even a house if you asked him nicely.'
'I guess you do have a point,' I said and a satisfied smirk appeared on Luke's face. 'Okay fine I'll move in with you.'
'Yay!' Luke exclaimed, sounding like a five-year-old, making me giggle slightly before I rested my head on his shoulder.
I knew that living with Luke was going to work out, because even after just under two months of dating, everything seemed so right.
I could see a future with him. One with a big house and four children, with two dogs and a cat to go along with it. One where I'm a surgeon at our local hospital, and Luke is an English and politics lecturer at Sydney Uni it even at Cambridge potentially.
I want that with Luke and nobody else. Both of us have grown and matured a hell of a lot since we first met, and part of it is due to each other. I see my future with Luke, when people ask me where I see myself or five or even ten years and I say I am not too sure, the one constant thing that I see and always will see is that Luke and I will still be together.
'What are you thinking about Belle?' Luke asked softly, pulling up an episode of 'The Office' to watch on his iPad.
'Just how lucky I am to have you.'
