15th of September 2015

"So what do you prefer, track or field?" Coach Russell asked me and I shrugged my shoulders, as at the moment I didn't prefer any.

"She's a star at hurdles," Calum said butting in with a grin on his face.

"Used to be," I said standing with my arms folded.

"What happened?" Coach Russell asked.

"She started a diet of weed and cocaine," Luke said out of nowhere and if I wasn't in the presence of a teacher, I would have hit him.

"Actually I did my ACL twice," I said and Luke looked shocked when I revealed that information.

"How long ago?" Coach asked as we all began to walk towards the track, a large oversized jumper covering my body since it was September and it was already beginning to be cooler in the evenings.

"I did my left knee in 2012 and my right knee in 2013."

"Alright so you should be fine then," Coach said and I nodded knowing that I had been fine for a while, I just had no motivation to get back into it.

"Alright, guys, five laps of the track and then you can report back to me," Coach Russell added and all thirty of us began to run around the 400m track, Calum staying close by my side.

"So, how long have your knees been fine for?" Calum asked with a smirk.

"I have no idea what you mean."

"Belle come on I've known you my whole life when did your knees fully heal?"

"Middle of last year," I said in between breaths, Calum letting out a loud laugh that earned some stares from the people around us.

"I knew it."

"I guess I just don't want to do athletics anymore," I breathed.

"Belle you are so dumb sometimes," Calum said rolling his eyes. "You are that talented, why let it go to waste?"

"Because I want to be a doctor Calum, not an athlete."

"So? Enjoy this while you can," Calum said and I knew that he had a point. It was my final year of high school and as much as I wanted to, I couldn't spend it studying during the weekdays and getting high on the weekends.

I stayed silent for the rest of the run, eventually ditching my jumper when we finished which earned a stupid comment from Luke.

"You're hot Carrington."

"Fuck of Hemmings," I scoffed as I stood with my hands on my hips, as we all individually discussed with Coach Russell where we would be training.

"Alright Annabelle, you get the back 100 metres of the track to yourself, I'll come and check on you later."

"Wait, I'm the only hurdler here?" I questioned. I've always hated training on my own, as it is always fun to have someone train with you.

"You sure are, so you better get moving."

I sighed as I picked up my jumper and water bottle, jogging to the back half of the oval where the hurdles were set up along with more training equipment I could use.
