Chapter 33 - A Goddess for this Corrupt Hot Springs Town

Kazuma and I were walking through the town to the church. Kazuma stomped inside yelling.

Kazuma: "Damn it! I wanna talk with whoever's in charge! I'll give them a piece of my mind!"

A cute blonde haired girl approached him wearing some sort of priest outfit.

Girl: "Oh, my! Whatever is the matter? Are you here for conversion? Baptism? Or..."

She leaned closer to Kazuma's face, smiling.

Girl: "...are you here for me?"

Kazuma's pissed off expression turned into a soft, embarrassed one."

Kazuma: "F-For you?"

Girl: "I'm just joking! Come now, don't take me seriously! Are you all right in the head?"

She was laughing as Kazuma looked like he wanted to punch her.

Girl: "Our high priest, Zesta-sama is out screwing around while proselytising..."

"Wait, what did you just say?"

The girl ignored me and kept talking.

Girl: "This is, he's out spreading the glories of Aqua-sama's name. I'm sorry, but you'll have to come back another time."

Kazuma: "Hang on, did a magic user and an arch priest come by here?"

Girl: "Oh, if you're looking for them..."

She pointed to our right, showing us Megumin who was slouched down in a corner, with Axis sect paper's in the back of her shirt poking out. She looked ultimately traumatised. She was shaking and even her breathes were shaky.

"Wha—?!"

Girl: "By the way, the woman you came here with is being stoned by children..."

Kazuma: "What?!"

Kazuma turned and ran out the church. I watched as he ran down the large flight of stairs and ran to the left at the bottom. Darkness was crouched down, hands covering the top of her head as four children were throwing rocks at her, probably due to her having her Eris sect charm out.

Kazuma came back up with Darkness. Darkness was now standing next to the sitting Megumin, breathing heavily.

Kazuma: "Aqua! Hey, Aqua!"

Kazuma was knocking on the door of a large wooden box. There was no response so he walked to his right and opened the other door. I stood to the side of the door to eavesdrop.

Aqua: "Welcome, my lost lamb."

I peeked through the door to see Kazuma sitting in the chair, looking to Aqua who was behind a small curtain.

Aqua: "Now, tell me of your sins. God will hear them, and will surely grant forgiveness."

Kazuma: "Listen, it's me! Y'know, me? Me! What's wrong with this town? Do something about your followers already."

Aqua: "I see. You've performed the 'It's me' scam, then. You must think deeply upon your sins. If you do, surely the merciful Goddess, Aqua-sama, will forgive you."

Kazuma stood up and slammed his hands on the wall, in between him and Aqua.

Kazuma: "Why are you trying to stonewall me?! I know what this is. You're enjoying this, aren't you? You're tickled that you get to do something priestly for once, aren't you?"

I heard Aqua gasp.

Aqua: "Do you have anything else to confess? If not, then leave here, and live a forthright life once again."
