i glanced at the clock in the class room, waiting for it to ring for lunch to start. i bounced her leg and swung my pencil between my fingers, as the art teacher was finishing up the lesson about picasso's paintings.

"well, since there are only a few minutes left of class, you may talk amongst yourselves" she sat down in her desk and began typing away on her computer.
"y/n" my friend, gianna, or what i called her, gia, softly called my name from behind her.
"yeah" i replied turning her body around.

"are you going out to lunch?"

"yeah, i planned on going to the cafe to study since i have study hall afterwards" i informed her. "cool! because i wanted taco bell.." my friend began to say. i giggled at her knowing that she was somehow going to put herself in that situation. "i'll get you taco bell"

she smacked her lips happily as a big grin came upon her face. "my girl!" she exclaimed giving her a high five. "you're stupid" i laughed.

"—i've been stressing out about my prom dress, and my appointments this whole week and justin isn't making it any better" gia rambled about the upcoming night of dreams. "i don't understand why it's stressful, it's just another dance"

"it's not just a dance y/n. it's the dance that make our dreams come true. the night where people like you finally come out of their shell and live what they call, the high school dream of dreams" she put her hands in the air to imitate sparkles.

i wasn't a big fan of dances. i always thought that if i did go to a school dance, i'll  stand by the food table with the others and just watch everyone else have the time of their lives, while i'm just being a anti social person.

"yeah right" i mumbled ripping off a piece of my roll. "you missed the with grade dance, every homecoming dance there was, junior prom, and now you're not going to senior prom? are you out of your mind!"

"i totally am. come on we have to go back to school. mrs. bynes said we're cooking pasta today" i looked at my watch.

"swear!" gia smiled with happiness as she hurries to get out of the chair and leave the cafe.
